Update: Ookla in an official statement said that it fully stands behind Airtel being named “India’s Fastest Mobile Network”

Airtel was declared as India’s fastest mobile network by Ookla last month. Now Reliance Jio has approached Advertising Standards Council of India (ASCI) against Airtel saying that the claim of Airtel as India’s fastest network is false, misleading and incorrect. It said that Ookla represented to RJIL that RJIL’s network was the fastest in Q2 and Q3 of 2016. RCom-Aircel merger gets Stock Exchange and SEBI approvals

Update March 20: Reliance Communications (RCOM) today announced that it has received an approval of the Competition Commission of India (CCI) for the proposed merger with Aircel.

Earlier: Back in September last year Reliance Communications (RCOM) and Maxis Communications Berhad (MCB), promoters of Aircel announced that they have signing an agreement for the merger of their Indian wireless

Airtel launches 4G services in Jammu & Kashmir, now available across 22 circles in India

Airtel has launched 4G LTE services in Jammu & Kashmir, which is available across 25 towns/locations across the Jammu region. Airtel won’t charge for incoming calls when roaming nationally starting April

Airtel today announced that it will offer free incoming calls while roaming nationally for all its customers. Starting this April 1st, all Airtel customers, travelling anywhere in the country, can take incoming calls for free without opting for any special packs. Airtel to acquire Telenor India

Airtel today announced that it has agreed to acquire Telenor India. As part of the agreement, Airtel will acquire Telenor India’s running operations in seven circles – Andhra Pradesh, Bihar, Maharashtra, Gujarat, UP (East), UP (West) and Assam, and transfer of all of Telenor India’s assets including spectrum, licenses and operations, including its employees and customer base of 44 million as well as outstanding spectrum payments and other operational contracts, including tower lease.
