Aircel has partnered with Micromax to launch Canvas Beat, a new music smartphone. It went on sale recently as Canvas Beat A114R and packs a 5-inch (960 x 540 pixels) IPS display, powered by 1.2 GHz quad-core Broadcom BCM23550 processor with Vidcore IV GPU and runs on Android 4.2 (Jelly Bean). It has a 8-megapixel auto focus rear camera with LED Flash and a 2-megapixel front-facing camera. It comes with dual SIM support, similar to other Canvas smartphones.
Aircel today launched its 4G services in India finally. It is available across four circles – Andhra Pradesh, Assam, Bihar and Odisha. Aircel becomes the second operator in India to offer 4G services after Airtel that already has 4G service in several cities. Reliance Jio recently announced that it would offer 4G services in 2015. Aircel has launched Design your own plan, a new online service that enables prepaid and postpaid subscriber create a plan of their choice. This enables users customize their plans across calling, texting and surfing using the Plan Designer tool. Aircel has partnered with Facebook India to offer free Facebook access to both old and new customers. This would let new Aircel customers enjoy free 50 MB per month data on Facebook for a period of 60 days without any extra packs. Existing customers would 50MB of free data for 30 days to access Facebook. Last year Airtel launched a similar offer for pre-paid customers and Idea Cellular offered Free Facebook Messenger access to their customers. Micromax has partnered with Aircel and MediaTek to offer data and other benefits with Micromax devices including smartphones and tablets powered by MediaTek chips, Micromax dongle and data-enabled feature phones. These offers would be initially available across four Micromax devices – MMX 377G data card, Funbook Mini 410i tablet, A090 and X070 smartphones. These include data benefits for all these devices, cheaper local and STD call rates and WAP content worth Rs. 10,000 with these phones and the tablet. Aircel has appointed China’s ZTE Corporation to supply and deploy its 4G network in India. ZTE had already partnered with Aitel to deploy 4G network in Kolkata and Chandigarh. We already reported that Aircel would start 4G LTE trial starting from Chennai by the end of 2013. Now Aircel has announced that LTE deployment will be initiated in Chennai, Rest of Tamil Nadu (RoTN) and few other business critical circles.

Aircel now offers video calling benefits across its 3G circles for this festive season. Aircel now offers cheaper tariffs of 1.6 paisa per second on video calls (Aircel to Aircel). The PI 29 and PI 128 data packs now offer on-net (Aircel to Aircel) video calling minutes, apart from standard data benefit . The PI 29 packs offers 10 minutes of video calling and the PI 128 packs offers 100 minutes of video calls within validity. Aircel slashed data rates on 3G packs earlier this year. These packs come with a validity of 7 days and 30 days, respectively. Cost of the pack might vary depending on the circle.
