The new Maemo interface is still a mystery to many of us, since we only had time to play with it for a couple of minutes, and we're not really sure how it'll behave under everyday usage.
Nonetheless, here we bring you a 7 minute video of the N900 in action, showing the homescreen, the active multitasking, as well as the active transitions. We go through all the menus, showcasing the Music Player, Video Player, Camera options as well as picture sharing, Application manager, dialpad, Calculator (there's a scientific calculator), Settings...

The Nokia XSeries is the latest range of music and entertainment devices from Nokia and was initially leaked in a trademark filing and was officially announced at NokiaWorld. Two phones the X6 and the X3 were announced . The former being a high-end offering and the latter being a low-end offering. But both the phones carry the same design story of the X-Series as you can see in the pictures. The first time we spotted the duo at NokiaWorld , we were surprised to see such a change in design philosophy from the Finnish phone maker. The design was not the usual Nokia style. Do you agree with us ?

Here is a short hands on video of the Nokia X6 which has a capacitive touchscreen. Watch the video after the jump for the proof that Capacitive displays are so much finger friendly and also Nokia is inching closer to the iPhone's screen in terms of responsiveness. Even Apple fanboys would appreciate the screen on the X6.
It lacks multi-touch which is a bit disappointing considering the fact that it takes 5MP pics - you might want to zoom in and out of them. But the glass on the display makes the typing experience very comfortable. The phone comes with a PlaylistDJ software which lets you play the music according to your mood.

All E71 users might really embrace the quality of photos coming from the E72 's 5MP Camera.Even though the Cam does not feature Carl Zeiss optics, it does a great job when compared to the E71.
While we could manage only some boring indoor shots ..
Folks at NokNok have some interesting shots including a macro and a outdoor shot.

This innovative concept introduced at Nokia World '09 allows to you to experience immersion and effortless navigation in an Augmented Reality environment. New types of interactions involving near-to-eye displays, gaze direction tracking, 3D audio, 3D video, gesture and touch. Through these new types of social linkages people will be connected in innovative ways between the physical and digital worlds.
With Mixed Reality, we would no longer face the ambiguity of having to choose between either the physical world or the virtual world at a single point of time. We could enjoy a virtual chat or to exchange any file with your friends/family when we are outside. Also, we could catch up with the latest updates/tweets/messages from our friends if we are travelling anywhere and still reply to them.
This might also help in building physical connections as well. If a virtual friend/acquaintance is physically close to us, his picture would pop up and start following him as he moves around.
Since its based upon eye movement, Mixed Reality would also make our presence on the internet a much more intuitive experience. When your eyelids are closed and doesn’t reopen for a period of time, the system detects it and goes either offline or into sleep mode automatically and hence ...

Most of you might be wondering whats so special about the N97 mini and whats different from the flagship device - the N97. We had a Nokia representative walk us through the key design differences between the mini and its big brother last week. He said that the mini is for users who want to make a fashion statement and would like to put it on the table show it off as a stylish gadget. That's why the mini is being offered in 3 unique colors.Catch the video after the jump and let us know what color of the mini do u like the most !
httpv://www.youtube.com/watch?v=8UZ_gFb28TE
After using the mini We found the hardware much more top notch than the N97 mainly due to the generous use of metal on the exterior. And if rumors are to be trusted , N97 mini is coming out in September end or early October for around 25k according to our sources. But according to announcements at NokiaWorld last week, price was expected to be 31k. But we still remember Anssi mentioning during his keynote that it would be 450 euros or cheaper mainly due to subsidies. Subsidies practically don't exist in India so we ...

Some good news now for E71 users , we managed to grab some pics of the E71 along with the E72 so that you can start saving for your upgrade right now and also kickstart the E72vsE71 death match in your brain !
[fullsize]
There are a lot of minor changes to the QWERTY keyboard. The center button on 5 way joystick gets the touch-sensitive Optical NaviKey.The Optical Navikey makes scrolling a lot easier and it can be also used to focus when inside the Camera. The layout of the main control keys have changed and the one-touch keys stand out of the rest. The bottom row of the keypad has a shorter space bar and accommodates 2 more keys. Also more symbols have been added to the alpha keys. Also there are keys for Bluetooth , Flashlight and Silent Mode.

The panel on the E72 will be easier to open. Also do you notice that the patten on the metal cover different ? The speaker moves from the top on the E71 to the rear on the E72. There is a much better 5 ...

The 5230 was announced few weeks ago and looks like a great value for money phone not just from specs but from my hands-on experience

Nokia X3 is an entry level music phone of the Nokia X-series range. It comes with a 3.2 Megapixel Camera and I manged to take a couple of pictures during my interaction with the Music Team at Nokia World. The EXIF info of the pics show the Camera as 7510 Supernova which is kinda interesting. How do you rate these pics coming from a phone priced at approx Rs.8000 ? Let us know Do you think the camera is important in a music phone ?

While the Nokia Booklet 3G is going to be available for purchase in some markets soon , We got hold of the retail packaging box of the this ultrasmall laptop /netbook at NokiaWorld last week. The box carries the same tradition of the N97 with eco-friendly material. Also the front side carries a embossed version of the product.

I also spotted this carry case for the booklet which looks nice and trendy. But there was not much info on whether this is complimentary along with the booklet or needs to be purchased seperately.
Enjoy these pics and the booklet pics for now while we bring you the video soon.

I recently had an interesting discussion with Henri Moissinac of Facebook Mobile about their Mobile Strategy , their growth in the mobile space and their plans for one of the largest markets in the World - India.
Nokia is the largest handset manufacturer in the world and Facebook is currently the largest social networking site. The partnership between Facebook and Nokia started with Nokia's popular devices Nokia 5800 and Nokia N97 and the partnership has been quite fruitful till now, with applications and home screen widgets released for Nokia 5800 and N97. That being said, the future possibilities seem endless and quite promising with the recent announcement of the Lifecasting application at Nokia World which ushers in a lot of excitement for the users.
The Facebook app on the iPhone platform is by far one of the most downloaded applications on the Apple App Store and the recent 3.0 version of the app is quite simply one of the best applications developed ever on the iPhone platform.
Henri said that that the first Mobile version of Facebook was developed for Blackberry phones and that the Facebook Connect feature was featured first on the iPhone and is now getting expanded to all the ...

Nokia Money marked the entry of the handset maker into the financial services market. There are more mobile phones in this world than bank accounts. Users might have easy access to a mobile phone but not to a bank account. Nokia Money aims to address this problem and give users the possibility to carry financial transactions using just a mobile phone. Consumers can pay utility bills , pay for services and send money to each other using just a mobile and a mobile number. It literally can work on any mobile phone. Obopay is the company which has teamed up with Nokia to provide this service. Watch the Video Demo of Nokia money showcased at Stuttgart , Germany last week.
httpv://www.youtube.com/watch?v=mpQf4_oG3uA
We really wish such services come to the Indian market soon. We see a huge potential for a mobile payment service in India given Nokia's brand equity. Only a mass market player like Nokia can tackle the fears which hinder the adoption of m-commerce.

I had a chance to meet up with Jo Harlow and couple of folks behind the Music centric devices including the X6 [specs] . The video shows you a quick demo of the Playlist DJ software which comes preloaded in the X6 phone. It's a pretty cool software that analyzes all your music on the phone and picks the numbers based on your mood. Want a Romantic Number for your Date or some rock music to dance . Let the Playlist DJ make life easier for you.
httpv://www.youtube.com/watch?v=3IQCetVpqoY
So this software works for all the songs on your phone and not just for the phones from the music store. I would love to try my music collection on this phone for sure if thats true ! The size of the Album Cover art has been bumped up slightly when compared to earlier phones such as the 5800. The X6 is one of the first Nokia touchscreen phones with a Capacitive screen which is very finger friendly.

Along with many services Nokia launched at the Nokia World 2009, one of the most interesting thing Nokia released was the Nokia Ovi Lifecasting.
It is basically an application which lets people publish their status updates, share photos etc directly onto their Facebook account along with their location with the help of Ovi Maps, right from the home screen of their phone.
However, the only devices that currently support Ovi Lifecasting are Nokia N97 and the new Nokia N97 Mini. So if you have a Nokia N97 or N97 Mini, rush now to download this application, since there is a limited entry for the beta testers of this exclusive application.
Here is a video preview of Ovi Lifecasting and how it works:

The Nokia E72 is a great E-series handset from the Finnish handset maker and I'm sure that this phone will continue to create records like the E71. The phone was leaked longed back. The E71 is one of the most popular handsets in the market even today and the E72 addresses the drawbacks of this phone pretty much in every department. I had a chance to interact with the Product manager of this phone - Mika Savolainen @ Nokia World. After using the phone for a short duration, the E72 feels like a pumped up E71 for sure.
The 5 MP camera is a much needed upgrade for the E71 whose camera was not up to the mark. We have some camera samples of the E72 coming up, so you can decide for sure. The optical trackpad is something really new and it felt cool to use but might have a slight learning curve associated with the same. The menus were a lot more snappier and the Email integration seemed impressive. Enjoy these pics for now while we work on the Hands on Video .

N97 mini is expected to hit indian shores my Diwali time at an expected retail price of Rs.31000. The N97 mini has been developed to make sure the N97 reaches a broader audience.
But considering the n97 is retailing at a price of about 32k in India we expect a price of below 30k for the mini.Diwali is not far away and its the time of the year Nokia breaks sales records year after year !

Creating applications for Nokia devices has just now got a whole lot easier. The Ovi SDK Beta was unveiled today, on the second day of Nokia World 09, along with a new navigation API.
The new SDK will also enable developers to deploy applications across multiple devices, quickly and easily and the new navigation API gives the developers an opportunity to bring navigation directly onto their applications.
The SDK is web based, therefore developers can develop apps not only for Symbian and Maemo but also for the web. This SDK also has a refreshing new and a distinct UI which is made up of a series of libraries, along with Ovi features integrated to it. Therefore anybody who knows HTML, CSS and JS can now create some amazing mobile applications.
Developers can also now make use of Ovi Navigation Player API along with previously released Ovi Maps Player API to make their app both contextual and relevant since Ovi Navigation Player API has the ability to guide app users to specific destinations as well.
The SDK Beta is now currently available by invitation, therefore just head over to Forum Nokia to register for Ovi Developer Beta, and get an exclusive preview of the technology that's behind some of the amazing Ovi apps the Ovi ...

Nokia Messaging is now getting a social flavour to it with the addition of Facebook. It will bring your latest wall posts on Facebook to your homescreen on the N97 and also gives you quick and easy access to your Facebook status and other messaging features.
N97 users will also be treated to a new refreshing integration of Facebook on their homescreen. Also, you can now scroll through your latest wall posts within the homescreen. If you want to see one of your friends profile in detail, you just have to simply click on their status message and voila! you will be taken directly to the Nokia Messaging Facebook app.
The Nokia Messaging beta is available on Nokia Beta Labs today, and is compatible with N97 and 6700. So If you have an N97 or a Nokia 6700, I would recommend you to download the app from Beta Labs right now.
You can also catch a demo of Social Messaging beta from Nokia Messaging below.
