Foxconn has made it to the headlines for all the wrong reasons till now especially for the suicide of one of its employees. Then Apple, forced Foxconn to open their factories to journalists so that they could know about the working conditions.
But now finally, they have done something right and made it to the headlines. They have announced a 66% increase in pay based on performance for which the workers would have to pass a three month long performance review.
If they pass the performance test, workers can earn upto 2000 Yuan per month. This seems to be right time for the rise especially since the Apple iPhone HD is said to be announced later today.

After removing 450 employees from the payroll last September, Sony Ericsson is now planning to close down four of it's facilities and lay-off 2000 employees worldwide.
The facilities that are planned to be shutdown are the facilities in RTP (North Carolina), Small Facilities(Miami, Seattle and San Diego), Sweden and Chennai. 2000 employees will be laid off and some of them will have the option of getting transfers to other places like Atlanta or California.
The process will take place in different steps, one at a time. This decision comes after incurring huge losses during the year. This maybe mainly due to the lack of competitive handsets from Sony Ericsson. Hopefully Sony Ericsson comes back with the launch of the XPERIA X10 which looks to be a very promising device. At least, lets hope that the employees get their jobs back.

Looks like iPhone 3GS will not be coming to India on Aug 9th. I visited a iStore in the city and from what they told me August 9th seems impossible and 3rd week of August looks more probable .
Looks like there has been some confusion amongst blogs and the media about the August 9th launch date.In the Apple Keynote way back in June, this slide shown below says iPhone 3GS coming to india in Aug ‘09 which means Aug 2009 and not August 9th. Apple India were not reachable for an explanation !
In the meanwhile chk out our Apple iPhone 3GS Review - First on FoneArena
Its just insane when almost the rest of the world has got the iPhone 3GS and India being the 2nd largest market in the world for mobile handsets is still waiting !

The unit was the black one , and we have exclusive pics for your viewing pleasure !
Everything from the chrome trim to the slide mechanism for the keyboard was fantastic. It truly felt like a phone worthy of it's price tag.
You'll notice the Facebook widget. We also had a chance to view the Mapping program (was slightly buggy when we used it).
Check below for more pictures. Also note: This was a prototype device and we were told that the keyboard on this model was quite different from the production model.
5 MP Camera with Shutter and Dual LED Flash.
We could not click photos using the camera , so refer to the n97 camera samples.
The phone is expected to hit stores in June. Its the most anticipated Nokia handset according to the specs and the buzz

You must be aware that, in the past many mobile phone manufacturers came out with various handsets having support to use two active SIM cards in a single mobile phone simultaneously. One of the first among such dual SIM manufacturer were Chinese producers and followed the Chinese manufacturers were some other leading mobile manufacturers like Spice, and others. Well, these phones is used by many users in India and I have personally seen many of my friends using these multi SIM support handsets. Because of the poor services by mobile service providers, all mobile phone users always try to have a backup connection so that none of their calls can be missed out. Infact, I personally carry at least one active SIM card of all operators (around 7) in my area so that at least one will be working fine incase of emergency situation. ;) But, unlike SIM cards one cannot carry 3-5 handsets with ...

We've got more megapixels!" That seems to be the motto of Sony Ericsson nowadays. In the constant war between phone manufacturers to cram higher resolution camera sensors in their handsets, nothing is more enticing than hearing someone like Sony Ericson claim that 20 MegaPixel phone cameras will be available in 2012!
Yes, well that just wasn't their one and only prediction for 2012. They also stated that we will be running 1Ghz CPUs in our phones, will enjoy full HD for video recording and XGA screen resolution, and will be browsing the web at 100 Mbps. Sweet.
But just today, we received confirmation that their predictions might be well on track. They made a very interesting announcement for their new Exmor CMOS image sensor lineup. The lineup includes a 5MP, an 8MP and the grand finale, a 12MP camera sensor. The best news is that it might just hit the street in mid2009!
Wow, Sony, just wow! Now how about making a wider availability of optical zooms, getting better lenses and coding better imaging software, and implementing HD video recording before 2012 for a change? We love Megapixels, but honestly, after 8MP, it gets silly to keep running after ...

This seems to be Nokia's attempt of unleashing stylish handsets at affordable prices. Priced around 225 EUR, the Nokia 7610 Supernova offers Xpress-On covers in a choice of a set of Steel Blue and Red covers offset by a muted gray front surface, or Bright Lilac and Steel Blue contrasted against a white front surface.
Additional features include a 3.2-megapixel camera with autofocus, instant

Samsung have launched the successor to the highly successful B100 (Samsung Guru) model, the Samsung B200. One of the main strong holds for the Samsung model was the attractive series of ads they had promoted the product with. The product itself was meant to be a basic entry level model with no oomph value attached to it. It was a sturdy no frills model. What it did have was a whooping 9 hour continuous talk time battery life.
Coming to the new model, Samsung B200(Guru 200) offers a unique feature which is still unknown at the entry level phones, FM RECORDING. So for this model this could well be the deal breaker. This definitely offers a competitive edge over the previous model and few other entry level handsets.
It also houses a built-in FM radio tuner and recording feature that lets users record live radio shows and use them later as alarms or custom ringtones. Cricket and Sudoku are a couple of pre-installed Java games and there is also a Mobile tracker and Emergency SMS feature. Another important and useful feature is the Call Time Limit feature that allows users to create a monthly limit for ...

They are the guys who gave us products like the Post-It Notes, Scotch Brite etc. 3M’s products look simple and are used for even simpler tasks but the kind of innovation and technology that goes behind making those products is simply incomparable.
Whenever 3M comes with a new product, no matter how simple it is, they make sure that the world gets up and gives attention. This time the company has come out with an ultra-compact, LED-illuminated, which can be embedded into any electronic device. The device is small as a mobile earpiece and can deliver crisp and brilliant VGA images. It is reported that 3M confirmed the availability of this engine for mobile phone manufacturers. This device has the ability of projecting images 40inches or more wider, when used with a mobile handset. I am damn sure that when this device is made available to consumers in their mobile phones, it will be a hit with enterprise phone users. Enterprise phones are now compatible with various formats of documents like PDF, PPT, XLS, Doc etc. Now whenever a person wants to give presentation to a group of people, he just needs two things, mobile ...

But some real news Google SMS debuts in India in beta mode.
Users need to send a text message to 54664 (5GOOG) . 5GOOG works only on a T9 keypad beware.
We checked the Weather in chennai and we got this response in the online demo.
Premium text messaging charges apply for the respective carriers.
Aircel Airtel BPL BSNL and Reliance are supported . No Vodafone ?
SMS still rocks and GPRS usage is still low
This launch is a fact that confirms the above statement. In a diverse economy like india. SMS is more popular than Mobile internet / GPRS for sure.
You just need a simple handset that supports SMS to use this service . But its not free .

Nokia has applied to the U.S. Patent Trademark Office with its interesting development. It works in the following way. There is a special button installed to the phone, in case of emergency the user presses it to activate the process ? the phone camera takes and sends a series of time-stamped snapshots or video clips with sound to a service center or a friend. It the phone has a GPS-receiver it also stamps the message with location.
Transmission can be discrete, with the phone apparently off, or obvious to warn an abductor that a call for help has been sent. If it is impossible to send the info, the phone stores it in memory and automatically transmits it as soon as possible. The emergency call can be halted by entering a personal code, so accidental false alarms can be averted.
Should the company make this idea a reality, there will be less problems to call emergency service. When you try call for help, you need to explain the situation, and this idea will make it easier.

According to engadget
It's not exactly breaking hallowed ground at this point, but today BenQ-Siemens finally launched three three new devices -- the EF81, S68, and S88 -- thereby culminating in product form their acquisition/merger last year. Not surprisingly, the BS (we can call them that, can't we?) EF81 is 0.6-inch thick 3G RAZR-competitor with a 1.3-inch 120 x 160 external display, and a 2.2-inch 262k color internal QVGA display, as well as 64MB RAM and MicroSD. The S68 is slightly less interesting with a 1.8-inch 132 x 176 display, Bluetooth, USB, EDGE, and 8MB of memory; the S88 (the black device above) at least features a two megapixel camera in addition to its 2-inch 176 x 220 262k color OLED display, MicroSD, and Bluetooth, though it only supports GPRS. So essentially the only phone you or we or anyone else will probably care anything about is the EF81, which is due to ship in March (where and for how much we don't yet know)
