Sony IFA 2013 Press Conference Live Blog

FoneArena is live in Berlin , Germany for IFA which is one of the largest technology shows of the world. Sony is holding a press conference later today where the company is expected to announce the much rumored Honami / XPERIA Z1 smartphone and a couple of very interesting lenses. Much is already known about the Sony Z1 and it is said to pack in a Snapdragon 800 processor with a very interesting 20MP camera. The design is believed to be a play on that of the Xperia Z and Z Ultra.

The event starts at around 4PM Berlin time or 7:30PM India time

Sony Xperia Z spotted in press shots

The oft leaked next generation Sony devices have once again been seen in a leaked press shot. The glamour shot shows the highly anticipated flagship level device from Sony called the Xperia Z. Also known as the Yuga, the smartphone will be powered by Android Jellybean.

Xperia smartphones from 2011 might get Jelly Bean update says Sony


Sony has officially announced that they are investigating future Android OS upgrades for all devices including 2011 Xperia smartphones. John Cooper, Product Manager of Sony UK who attended an online Q&A session on Facebook last week said that XPERIA Arc S and the XPERIA mini Pro would not be upgraded to Jelly Bean. Sony says that the information from the spokesperson about the Android 4.1 (Jelly Bean) software development and rollout for 2011 Xperia smartphones was an error. Sony Mobile India has announced on their Facebook page that they have started rolling out the Android 4.0 (Ice Cream Sandwich) update for Xperia arc S, Xperia neo V and Xperia ray for consumers in India. Sony delays Android 4.0 ICS update for Xperia smartphones, to roll out starting mid-April


Sony announced that they would roll out Android 4.0 (Ice Cream Sandwich) update for 2011 Xperia devices starting March end , but the update is now delayed and is being pushed to mid-April. The first phones to get the update would be Xperia arc S, Xperia neo V and Xperia ray as they announced previously, that would be available in mid-April and continue over 4 to 6 weeks to reach globally. Sony releases Android 4.0 beta ROM for Xperia PLAY

Sony Mobile has released  Android 4.0 (Ice Cream Sandwich) beta ROM for unlocked Xperia PLAY smartphones. They released ICS beta ROM for Xperia arc S, Xperia neo V and Xperia ray last month. They have also announced they work close with several game partners to optimize the games to run on the latest Android 4.0 software. Sony releases Android 4.0 beta ROM for select Xperia smartphones

Sony has released Android 4.0 (Ice Cream Sandwich) beta ROM for select Xperia smartphones. They launched they alpha ROM as a preview last December, but this beta version brings a lot of improvements including functioning FM radio and GSM Radios. This has UI elements from ICS including some new UI features present in the Xperia S that was announced at the CES last month. Sony Ericsson Xperia Pro price drops to Rs. 19999


Sony Ericsson Xperia Pro has seen a price drop in India, which is now available for Rs. 19,999. The Xperia Pro is a QWERTY slider phone which was unveiled at MWC 2011 earlier this year and Sony Ericsson launched the Xperia Pro in India last October for Rs. 24,000. It features a 3.7 inch (854 x 480 Pixels) touchscreen display and full slide out QWERTY keypad. It packs a 8.1 MP camera with LED Flash and secondary VGA camera on the back. Sony Ericsson Live with Walkman launched in India with offers for Aircel customers


Sony Ericsson has launched the Live with Walkman in India. This is the successor of the Walkman W8 and Mix Walkman and features dedicated Walkman hardware button and it also comes with . It has 3.2-inch (320 x 480 pixels) TFT capacitive touch screen display, 1 GHz Qualcomm Scorpion processor and runs on Android 2.3 (Gingerbread). It was available for pre-order last month from online  retailers last month and available for purchase later. It is known that Sony Ericsson was at one time considering Windows Phone as a platform of choice for its smartphone division. However in 2011 , SE decided to go all in on Android.
