Sony Xperia Z2 Tablet specifications leaked: Snapdragon 800, Android 4.4 KitKat and 3GB RAM

Last year Sony launched the Xperia Tablet Z, the company’s first 10-inch waterproof tablet. evleaks has just leaked the specifications of the Xperia Z2 Tablet ahead of MWC 2014. The successor would have the same 10.1-inch HD (1920 x 1200 pixels) WUXGA display, but this would be powered by a 2.3 GHz quad-core Snapdragon 800 processor instead of Snapdragon S4 Pro chip. Sony Xperia G with 4.8-inch display images, specifications leak

Sony unveiled the Xperia T2 Ultra, a mid-range phablet along with its dual SIM variant, the Xperia T2 Ultra Dual recently. Earlier this week alleged images of the Xperia G, an upcoming mid-range smartphone appeared on Twitter. This comes from ViziLeaks, popular for leaking the live image of Lumia 1020 last year. Yesterday, another image that shows the back of the phone appeared online along with specifications.

Sony Xperia T, TX, V and SP Android 4.3 update starts rolling out

Sony Mobile started rolling out the Android 4.3 (Jelly Bean) update for the Xperia Z1 and Xperia Z Ultra back in December, the  Sony Xperia Z, Xperia ZL, Xperia ZR and the Xperia Tablet Z got the update at the end of December. It rolled out the Android 4.3 for the SP in several countries including India earlier this week, now the company announced that it is also rolling out the Android 4.3 update for the Xperia T, Xperia TX and the Xperia V. Sony Xperia Z1 Compact Lime Photo Gallery

We had just unboxed the new Xperia Z1 Compact, Sony’s latest “mini” flagship device that is as powerful as its big brother, the Xperia Z1. The Japanese had finally delivered what everyone wanted, a small screened device in today’s standards, but with no compromise on power or features. With Snapdragon 800, 20.7 MP Sony camera with G Lens and Bionz sensor, a waterproof body in a design similar to the Z1, it checks all the marks for the best possible Android device with a smaller screen, unlike the ill performing “mini”s from Samsung or HTC. But that aside, the Z1 compact also looks really good, with a colourful lime coloured outer shell in the variant we got, so to showcase the device before our review, here is a photo gallery and walkthrough of the Sony Xperia Z1 Compact.

Sony unveiled the Xperia Z1 Compact, the company’s latest smartphone in the Xperia Z series at the CES 2014 last month. We brought you the unboxing of the device earlier today, here we have the benchmarks of the smartphone. The device is powered by a quad-core Snapdragon 800 (MSM8974) 28nm HPm Krait 400 CPU clocked at 2.15 GHz with Adreno 330 GPU, similar to the Xperia Z1. Sony Xperia Z1 Compact Unboxing and First Impressions

Sony launched the Xperia Z1 Compact, as the “mini” variant of its flagship device, the Xperia Z1 sometime back. It was the Z1f(launched in Japan) for the world and was almost immediately heralded as the best compact Android device yet. Samsung and other companies like HTC have been playing the “mini” game for a generation or two, in which they would release a device that is identical to the flagship, but saddled by poorer specifications and obvious cost cutting, but Sony has done the inevitable, a smaller flagship, with deservedly flagship level specifications and a worthy competitor to the Apple iPhone, which still remains the only small-ish flagship product in the world. Sony reports net profit of $266 million in Q3 FY13, mobile sales up 44.8% YoY

Sony Corporation today reported net profit of 27 billion yen ($266 million) profit for its third quarter that ended December 31st 2013. It has come back from a loss of 19.3 billion yen ($196.65 million) in its previous quarter. Smartphones sales increased by 44.8% in the quarter compared to Q3 FY12, which helped to improve the sales. Sony manged to ship 10.7 million Xperia smartphones in the quarter, even though it is not in the top 5 list of smartphone vendors by shipments as reported by IDC recently. Sony sells off VAIO PC division, hopes to concentrate on smartphones and tablets

Yesterday there was news floating around the Internet that Steve Jobs wanted Sony VAIO laptops to run Mac OS X back in the 2000s and also there were rumors that Sony is looking to sell of their VAIO PC division. Today, Sony has officially confirmed that they are selling off their VAIO division. Back in April 2012, Sony had announced that they will be reforming their strategy and as a part of the process, they have identified three core areas  – imaging, game and mobile business.

Samsung, Sony top trusted brands in India

Samsung has finally replaced Nokia as India’s Most Trusted Brand, according to a recent survey conducted by research firm Trust Research Advisory (TRA). Nokia, which continued to retain the first position in Brand Trust Report 2011, 2012 and 2013 has been pushed to 5th spot. Sony moved one spot up from 2013, to the 2nd place. LG moved 6 places up from last year to 4th spot. As you can see on the table below, Nokia is the only company in the Mobile Phone category since Samsung, Sony and LG come under consumer electronics category, even though they are popular for their smartphones.

Sony updates firmware for Sony QX10 and QX100 lenses

Sony has rolled out a big software update for its interchangeable lenses – Sony QX10 and Sony QX100. Both the lenses were announced alongside the company’s current flagship – Sony Xperia Z1, at the IFA in Berlin. The latest software update has the version number 2.0 and brings along with it a couple of changes for the lenses.

Sony releases Xperia Z1’s Timeshift burst app on Google Play, available for select Xperia devices

Sony Mobile has released the Timeshift burst app on Google Play that would let users with select (Xperia Z, Xperia  ZL,  Xperia Z Ultra and Xperia  Tablet Z) Xperia users to use the feature. This app captures 61 frames in 2 seconds starting even before you press the shutter, just like HTC One. Once it is captured, you can scroll back and forth to select the perfect image. Sony launches WiFi only Xperia Z Ultra in Japan

The long rumored and anticipated WiFi only version of the Sony Xperia Z Ultra is now official and the mini tablet will soon be available in Sony’s home turf of Japan. Priced at a smidgen under $500, you get a 6.4 inch Triluminos Display, Snapdragon 800 processor that make for a very handy device that is almost a tablet, just a bit more portable. The IP58 certification, slim shell further contribute to making it a rather interesting miniature tablet. Images of Sony D6503 surfaced recently, now detailed specifications of the smartphone has leaked on the same XDA thread. This reveals that the phone would feature a 5.2-inch (1920 x 1080 pixels) display, powered by a 2.26 GHz quad-core Snapdragon 800 (MSM8974AB) processor with Adreno 330 GPU and run on Android 4.4.2 (KitKat) OS. Sony D6503, an upcoming flagship smartphone has surfaced in images on XDA. This is rumored to be the successor of the Xperia Z1. The Sony D6603 has showed up in AnTuTu Benchmarks, which is likely to be another flagship from Sony. These leaked images of the prototype shows off aluminium chassis and glass back. Sony unveiled a tennis racket sensor at the CES 2014 earlier this month, now the company has officially announced the Smart Tennis Sensor (SSE-TN1) that would help you improve your tennis racket swing. This latches on to the bottom of your tennis racket and connects to your smartphone over Bluetooth to send data about your swing. This lets you immediately analyze the shot using the dedicated Smart Tennis Sensor application on your iPhone or Android.
