Rumors that were looming around for a while suggested that Sony will be launching a smartphone in second half of 2014. To add more fuel to these speculations, images of alleged selfie smartphone by Sony has emerged online. Also, the company has released a tweet on Twitter that reads “See your #selfies in a whole new light”.

Sony unveiled the Xperia Z1 Compact and the Xperia Z2 earlier this year. Now alleged screenshots from the Xperia Z3 and the Xperia Z3 Compact has surfaced online. The Xperia Z3 screenshot shows the model number D6653 and the model number of the Z3 Compact is D58XX (D5833 likely). Both the screenshots confirm Snapdragon 801 MSM8974-AC chipset and run on Android 4.4 KitKat. Sony announced the Xperia Z2 Tablet, the company’s latest flagship tablet in the Z series at the MWC 2014 earlier this year. It is now available in India through online retailer Infibeam.  It packs a 10.1-inch Full HD (1920 x 1200 pixels) WUXGA Display with Mobile BRAVIA Engine 2, scratch-resistant glass with Anti fingerprint coating, powered by a 2.3 GHz quad-core Snapdragon 801 processor with Adreno 330 GPU and runs on Android Android 4.4 (KitKat).

Sony Xperia Z2 Camera Samples

Sony announced the Sony Xperia Z2 at MWC 2014 earlier this year and it wasn’t much of an update when compared to the Sony Xperia Z1. The Sony Xperia Z2 comes with an almost similar body while the internals have been beefed up to match the latest generation SoC. Sony has decided to stick with the similar 20.7MP camera module on the Xperia Z2 that is currently found in the Xperia Z1 and the Xperia Z1 Compact.

Android 4.4.3 update rolling out for Google Play Edition HTC One (M7), M8, Galaxy S4 and Xperia Z Ultra

Google released Android KitKat factory images for Nexus devices and Motorola also announced that it will bring the latest update to its devices (X, G and E) this week.  Now, owners of Google Play Edition HTC One M7, M8 and Sony Z Ultra are receiving the 4.4.3 update. HTC has also uploaded the kernel source for this update for the One M7 and M8 devices.

Sony has launched XSP- N1BT, a Smartphone Cradle Receiver that would let you turn your smartphone into a car stereo. You can use the smartphone to control music, navigation, phone calls and text messages. This lets you place the smartphone securely in the dash. The new AppRemote interface uses the smartphone’s touchscreen to control head-unit functions via Bluetooth (Android devices) or via USB (iPhone). Sony D2403 with quad-core Snapdragon 400 SoC spotted in benchmarks

Sony D2403, an unknown device has been spotted on GFXBench. This reveals the complete specifications of the smartphone. According to benchmark listing, the phone would have a 4.7-inch (960 x 540 pixels) display, powered by a quad-core Snapdragon 400 processor with Adreno 305 GPU and runs on Android 4.4.2 (KitKat) out of the box. It would have a 8-megapixel rear camera with LED flash, 1080p video recording and a 0.3-megapixel (VGA) front-facing camera. Sony starts rolling out Android 4.4 update for Xperia Z, ZL, ZR and Tablet Z

Sony has started rolling out Android 4.4.2 (KitKat) update for last year’s Xperia Z lineup that includes, Xperia Z, Xperia ZL, Xperia ZR and the Xperia Tablet Z as it promised. All these devices got the Android 4.3 (Jelly Bean) update back in December last year. Sony rolled out the KitKat update for the Xperia Z Ultra, Xperia Z1 and the Z1 Compact in March. We got our first glimpse of the Sony Xperia Z2 a few months back at the Mobile World Congress in Barcelona. Set against competition from the Samsung Galaxy S5, the Z2 felt like the antithesis of the Korean flagship. Where Samsung was hell bent on throwing everything at the wall in the hopes of attracting consumer attention, Sony’s flagship felt like a device where the thought was on making improvements all around. Improvements that made sense and improved the experience. Now that we’ve spent more time with the device, we’re all the more sure that Sony thought long and hard when working on the Z2.
