Sony just announced the Xperia E4 and E4 dual, two new budget smartphones ahead of MWC 2015 after several leaks. These have a 5-inch qHD IPS display and are powered by a 1.3 GHz quad-core MediaTek SoC, compared to Snapdragon 400 in the Xperia E3 and E3 dual that were introduced at the IFA last year. Live images of the Sony Xperia E4 (E2105, E2115), the company’s upcoming budget smartphone surfaced on a polish website last year along with a AnTuTu listing couple of months back. Now renders of the smartphone have been leaked by a Chinese website. These images show the smartphone enclosed in a case and another image in a flip cover, but these resemble the live image leaked earlier.

Sony Corporation has reported its revenues for third quarter of the financial year 2014 that ended December 31st. Sales increased to 2,557.8 billion yen ( US$ 21,139 million), an increase of 6.1%. It shipped 11.9 million smartphone in the quarter, compared to 9.9 million the previous quarter and 10.7 the same quarter the previous year, which is a 11% increase. The mobile communications division has reported sales of 429 billion yen (US$ 3,545 million) for the quarter, a 28.7% increase year-on-year and income of 9.3 billion yen ( US$76 million U.S. dollars).

Sony has officially launched the SmartWatch 3 and SmartBand Talk in India. These were announced at IFA 2014 back in September and got listed on the official website last week along with the price tag. The Sony SmartWatch 3 SWR50 powered by Android Wear has a 1.6-inch (320 x 320 pixels) TFT LCD capacitive touch screen display, powered by a 1.2 GHz processor and offers notification for messages, calls and more when connected to the smartphone over Bluetooth. The Sony SmartBand Talk SWR30 wearable has a 1.4-inch e-paper display to view notifications from your smartphone, get time and monitor Lifelog activities. It also has built-in microphone and speaker so that you can talk into it and hear your caller when connected to a smartphone. Both these are waterproof with IP68 ratings.
