A photograph is as good as the subject in it. An out of focus photo is as good as a nonexistent one and this is a problem that still afflicts smartphone cameras. Anything apart from perfect lighting conditions or equally still subject apart, a majority of smartphones just can’t focus fast enough to capture the subject. So, color us surprised when we learnt that the Sony Xperia Z5 adopted Sony’s blazing Hybrid Autofocus system from it’s DSLR lineup and implemented it in a smartphone. With potentially class leading focus speeds, what better way than to see how much better the Z5 is against the competition than to pitch them head to head?

Sony to develop its own mobile processor in 2016?

Sony Mobile will reportedly follow Apple, Samsung and Huawei to develop its own mobile processor for its Xperia smartphones, according to a report from DigiTimes. The report also says that LG will also introduce its own processor. LG NUCLUN 2 processor was already spotted on GeekBench few months back, confirming its existence, after the company’s failed attempt with the Odin chipset. Sony launched its flagship Xperia Z5 Dual smartphone in India last month for Rs. 52,990. We brought you the unboxing recently, here we have the benchmarks. It is powered by an Octa-Core Qualcomm Snapdragon 810 64-bit 20nm processor that has four bigger ARM Cortex A57 cores clocked at 1.96GHz per core and four smaller ARM Cortex A53 cores clocked at 1.56GHz per core with 630 MHz Adreno 430 GPU. It has 3GB RAM, packs 5.2-inch (1920 x 1080 pixels) display and runs on Android 5.1.1 (Lollipop). Sony Mobile sales down 15.2% YoY in Q2 FY15, 6.7 million smartphones shipped

Sony Corporation has reported its revenues for second quarter of the financial year 2015 that ended September 30, 2015. Sales remained flat year-on-year at 1,892.7 billion yen ( US$ 15,773 million) with just 0.5% decease compared to the same quarter last year. Sony shipped just 6.7 million smartphones in the quarter compared to 9.9 million in Q2 FY14 and 7.2 million in the previous quarter. Toshiba agrees to sell image sensor business to Sony

Toshiba Corporation today confirmed earlier reports that it will sell CMOS image sensor business to Sony Corporation. It will help it to overhaul its unprofitable semiconductor businesses after the company shared that it overstated earnings by $1.3 billion going back to fiscal 2008-2009. Even though the company did not confirm how much the deal is worth, it is worth around 20 billion yen ($166.15 million) according to Reuters.
