Qualcomm just introduced Snapdragon 670 Mobile Platform, the company’s latest SoC in the new 600 series and the successor of last year’s Snapdragon 660 SoC that is now seen in several mid-range smartphones, including the Xiaomi Mi A2 that was launched in India today. It is built on power-efficient 10nm process technology based on new Kryo 360 architecture, built on ARM Cortex technology, same as the 710. Qualcomm reports $5.6 billion revenue, 4% YoY growth in FY Q3 2018, decides to terminate NXP acquisition plans

Qualcomm Incorporated today announced results for its fiscal third quarter ended June 24, 2018. The company has reported a revenue of $5.6 billion compared to $5.4 billion from the same time last year. This is a good 4% improvement YoY. Apple intends to solely use Intel modems in 2018 iPhones: Qualcomm

Qualcomm during the FY Q3 2018 earning call today confirmed that Apple intends to solely use our competitors’ (Intel) modems rather than its modems in the 2018 iPhone expected later this year. This was reported by Apple analyst Ming-Chi Kuo of KGI earlier this year. However, Qualcomm said that it will continue to provide modems for Apple legacy devices. Back in November last year the KGI analyst had said that the 2018 iPhone models will come with a faster Intel XMM 7560 modem.

Qualcomm just announced the Snapdragon 632, 439 and 429 Mobile Platforms as new additions to Snapdragon 600 and 400 tiers. These promise better performance, better battery life, more efficient designs, impressive graphics and artificial intelligence (AI) capabilities, and are targeted at mid-range and budget devices. Compared to Cortex A53 CPUs on the Snapdragon 630, the Snapdragon 632 now uses Qualcomm’s custom Kryo 250 CPUs combined with X9 LTE modem. This promises 40% higher performance compared to Snapdragon 625/626. It is based on 14nm process technology. Qualcomm Snapdragon 1000 said to be exclusively designed for windows 10 PCs

Microsoft and Qualcomm is said to be working on a new platform exclusively for more powerful notebooks and 2-in-1 tablets based on ARM chipsets. The new processor in question is the Snapdragon 1000 and it is intended for Windows 10 based on the ARM with performance equal to Intel’s U and Y Core processors. Snapdragon 845 10nm SoC manufactured on second generation 10LPP process from Samsung was introduced back in December last year. Earlier reports said that TSMC will be making the 7nm (FinFET) chips for the Snapdragon 855 SoC, now new report corroborates this, and also says that the production will start by the end of 2018 or early 2019.

Apple files lawsuit against Qualcomm over four patent infringement

Apple is not stopping its legal battle against Qualcomm as the company has filed petitions with the U.S. Patent and Trademark Office to challenge four of Qualcomm’s patents. The main goal of Apple is to have the patent office cancel the four Qualcomm patents in question.
