LG Electronics (LG) and Qualcomm Technologies Inc. have announced today their partnership to further develop LG’s connected in-vehicle infotainment system, webOS Auto. The partnership aims to integrate the features of LG’s webOS and Qualcomm’s Snapdragon Automotive Development Platform (ADP) to create a more convenient experience for drivers and passengers.

Qualcomm Snapdragon 865 Octa-Core SoC gets benchmarked, beats Apple A12 Bionic in multi-core performance

Details about the upcoming Snapdragon 865 SoC from Qualcomm surfaced back in May, later in June, another rumor said that it will  come in two versions condenamed ‘Kona’ and ‘Huracan’, one with integrated X55 5G modem and the other one without it. Now the Snapdragon 865 ‘Kona’ SoC has surfaced on Geekbench. The prototype device runs Android 10 ‘Q’ and the phone has 6GB of RAM. Qualcomm to appeal European Commission’s €242 million fine for ‘predatory pricing’ of 3G chipsets

The European Commission has issued an antitrust fine of 242 million Euros ($USD 272 million) on Qualcomm for engaging in “predatory pricing”. The Commission opened its formal investigation on 16 July 2015 and the fine has been issued as Qualcomm abused its market dominance in 3G baseband chipsets with the aim of forcing its competitor ‘Icera’ out of the market.

This is the successor of Snapdragon 212 that was introduced back in 2015, so it has huge upgrade that includes ARM Cortex-A53 cores, for 50% improved CPU performance compared to A7, 64-bit architecture, Qualcomm Hexagon DSP, Qualcomm Adreno 308 GPU for up to 28% increased gaming performance, Qualcomm Quick Charge technology, dual ISPs with support for dual cameras and HD+ resolution screen.

Lenovo Project Limitless world’s first 5G PC powered by Qualcomm Snapdragon 8cx 5G compute platform announced

Lenovo at the Computex 2019 in Taipei announced Project Limitless, which calls as the world’s first 5G  always-on, always-connected PC, powered by new Snapdragon 8cx 5G compute platform with the Qualcomm Snapdragon X55 5G modem. Lenovo did not share any specification of the device yet, but the prototype shows a convertible design, large screen and a fingerprint sensor.

Qualcomm and Apple settle all worldwide litigation, sign multi-year chipset supply agreement

After two-year long battle, Qualcomm and Apple in a surprise move have announced an agreement to dismiss all litigation between the two companies worldwide. Qualcomm also said that worldwide litigation will be dismissed and withdrawn, including claims involving Apple’s contract manufacturers.
