Motorola Moto G (2nd Gen) 4G launched in India for Rs. 8999

Motorola launched the Moto G (2nd Gen) in India last year at a price tag of Rs. 12,999, which currently retails for Rs. 9,999 after several price cut. Today the company has launched the 4G version of the smartphone called the Moto G (2nd Gen) 4G. It comes with similar specifications as the 3G version, including a 5-inch HD screen with Corning Gorilla Glass 3 protection,  1.2 GHz quad-core Snapdragon 400 processor, 8-megapixel rear camera, 2-megapixel front-facing camera, dual front-facing speakers and Dual SIM support, but this has a 2390mAh battery in addition to 4G connectivity with support for 4G bands for India. Motorola Moto X Style launched in India starting at Rs. 29999

Motorola has launched the Moto X Style, the company’s latest high-end smartphone in the X series. It was announced back in July along with the Moto X Play that was launched in India recently starting at Rs. 18,499 and packs a 5.7-inch (1440×2560 pixels) Quad HD display, is powered by a 1.8 GHz hexa-core Snapdragon 808 processor with Adreno 418 GPU, runs on Android 5.1.1 (Lollipop) OS, has a 21-megapixel rear camera with dual LED flash 4K video recording and a 5-megapixel front-facing camera with LED flash. Motorola recently promised Android 6.0 (Marshmallow) update for the smartphone.

Motorola confirms Android 6.0 Marshmallow for range of smartphones

Google announced at its event earlier this week that it will roll out Android 6.0 (Marshmallow) update for Nexus devices starting from next week. HTC already confirmed list of 12 devices that will get the update, Motorola just announced the list of smartphones that will get the Android 6.0 update first. This includes the Moto X (2nd Gen, 3rd Gen Pure Edition, Style and Play), Moto G (2nd and 3rd Gen), DROID Turbo, Moto MAXX and Moto Turbo. This is the third year running that Motorola have announced updates in the Moto X series of smartphones. However, this year is a little bit different as they introduced not one but 2 new smartphones in the X series. The first is a high-end model known as the Moto X Style and the second is a mid-ranger known as the Moto X Play. The X Play was recently launched in India at really competitive prices i.e Rs 18,499 for the 16GB version and Rs 19,999 for the 32GB version. The features and specifications promise to put up a fight with the other contenders in this price range. Let us take a closer look and see whether the phone lives up to expectations.

Motorola starts rolling out Stagefright patches for its smartphones globally

Motorola announced last month that it will offer patches for Stagefright exploit. Few days back it announced that it has started rolling out updates with Stagefright fixes for its smartphones globally. The Moto X Play and Moto X Style smartphones come with security patches out of the box. Motorola is rolling out new updates for Moto X (1st Gen, 2nd Gen), Moto G (1st Gen, 2nd Gen, 3rd Gen) Moto G with 4G LTE 1st Gen, Moto E (1st Gen, 2nd Gen) and Moto E 4G LTE (2nd Gen). All these include fixes for the latest vulnerability in the Stagefright library (CVE-2015-3864).

Earlier this year Motorola announced that it had sold 3 million smartphones in the country. It sold 2.6 million smartphones in less than 8 months. It was announced back in July and packs a 5.5-inch 1080p IPS display, is powered by a Octa-Core Qualcomm Snapdragon 615 processor, has a 21-megapixel rear camera with dual-tone LED flash, 5-megapixel front-facing camera, 4G LTE support and 3630mAh battery. The version launching in India also comes with dual SIM support. It has Moto Voice, Moto Display, Moto Assist and Moto Actions.
