A few weeks back the Galaxy Nexus users had reported about the device getting 4.0.2 update to their devices, but later we came to know that Google pulled off this update due to internal issues and now people from various countries using the Galaxy Nexus have reported that Android update 4.0.2 is rolling out for the GSM version.
With the 4.0.2 update it solves many bugs present in Android 4.0.1, other than that the face recognition has been improved, special effects when using front facing camera has also been improved, there has also been a visual improvement to the lockscreen. DivX support which is was present earlier has been removed but Google has promised that they will bring back the support in a later update, many other features have been enhanced and bugs have been solved.
With 4.0.3 already rolled out for the Nexus S, I wonder what is keeping Google back from updating the same version to the Galaxy Nexus, the 4.0.2 update was meant to be a month old update which has been rolled out now and they will be taking some more time to roll out the 4.0.3 update, or will they directly go to 4.0.4 without updating it ...

Nexus S received the Android 4.0 update a few weeks back though not all the features of ICS were available in the Nexus S update and one of the feature was Face unlock and the the main reason behind that was the VGA front camera. Many of the Nexus S users were really upset about the decision taken by Google, but the developer community is always there to look out for all the consumers and now this time they have taken the official update and have embedded face unlock into it.
This ROM is available for both Nexus S and the exclusive to Sprint Nexus S 4G, so both the users must be really happy. The developers have said that face unlock is not that bad on the Nexus S, it works smoothly even with beard and glasses on but I think there will be some problem to open the device in some dark places, but again Google has themselves told openly that this is not a very serious security feature for the device. So if you have any of the Nexus download the link given below and flash these ROMs onto your Nexus S.

We all know about the patent war between Apple and all the Android manufacturers but there is another patent war going on between Oracle and Google from a long time. The United States Patents and Trademark office has given Google a great Christmas present in a final rejection of 17 of the 21 claims of the '476 patent, including all seven of the patent's independent claims.
All of the other claims were sent for reexamination except for claim 14 which was the only claim which was in the favor of Oracle in the litigation. As we look at the whole picture right now Oracle does not look in a good state but they have till February 20 2012 for reconsideration or appeal for the final rejection.

If you have a GSM Nexus S, you will be able to update your device to Android 4.0 with this easy procedure given below.
Note:
This procedure does not work for CDMA Nexus S
Be careful and read the procedure at least twice before going ahead and doing it
You will have to have the latest official Gingerbread build to successfully update to Android 4.0
You can not update directly from a Custom ROM
You must have at least 50% of battery left in your Nexus S before going ahead with this procedure
Download:
Download the official ICS (Android 4.0) update from here
Procedure:

The Samsung Galaxy Neus volume bug is getting fixed through an Over the Air (OTA) firmware update that is rolling out in UK. Some of the Galaxy Nexus owners have been facing volume bug that mutes their device automatically and then becomes unresponsive while keeping their phone in 2G mode. Google has already said that they are working on an update to fix this issue. Clove UK has confirmed through their UK distributors that the update had already been completed on the new stocks and would be available very soon for new and existing customers.
Some new customers would be prompted to install the update upon powering up their device for the first time and it would be available Over the Air (OTA) for existing customers.

Samsung Galaxy Nexus would come with a 2000 mAh extended battery in South Korea. This would improve the phone's standby and offer more juice to get your phone going. The Samsung Galaxy Nexus comes with a 1750 mAh battery, and this 2000 mAh extended battery comes in addition to that. This also comes with a back cover to fit in the new battery. The extended battery for the Samsung Galaxy S2 launched in South Korea long back which was launched in U.S few months back.
The extended battery is a bit thicker than the original one on the left.
After inserting the new battery the Galaxy Nexus is a bit thicker in the bottom in comparison with the Galaxy S2 but still slim at the top.
Other than the extend battery, the device comes with a normal package. Samsung might sell the extended battery separately in other countries like U.S and U.K after the phone gets launched in those countries.

The Galaxy Nexus is world's first phone to run on Android 4.0 which is also known as Ice Cream Sandwich. Google and Samsung unveiled the device in Hong Kong last month and the device went on sale in few markets earlier this month. The handset is priced at around 429 pounds in the UK.The box is unusually long and has the picture of the device on the front and sides.A very simplistic design with subtle marketing material. No mention even of the specs on the outside. The unit we got was a Titanium Silver color. The device boasts of a 4.65 inch SuperAMOLED display with a 720p resolution. It is powered by a 1.2 GHz CPU and packs 16GB of inbuilt storage without an expansion slot. There is a 5MP camera on the back and a 1.3 MP front facing camera. It uses only a normal SIM card slot unlike other recent phones to hit the market like iPhone 4s, Nokia Lumia 800 or Motorola RAZR. Here is the unboxing video without further ado

Validated by Samsung to Business Insider, the Samsung Galaxy Nexus has been delayed to December 8. Mums the word on the cost revelation, but let’s just say, it’s going to be a very merry Christmas.
Rumor has it that Verizon Wireless desired all the hype they can get for the gadget that may perhaps be obtainable on the most important shopping day of the year as they knew the device wouldn’t see daylight before the Black Friday weekend. Hence, they were unanswerable on a release date for the Android 4.0, Ice Cream Sandwich, and the most awaited device.
Theoretically, all three, Verizon Wireless, Samsung or Google aren’t late, cause no release date has ever been on the record. This precisely what happened to HTC’s Thunderbolt, on Verizon Wireless, as nobody ever quoted an apparent release date.

We have been hearing about the Galaxy Nexus volume bug from the the day it was launched in U.K. It has been covered by every blog and news portal out there, and the users have been reporting and are unhappy about it. There have also been reports that this bug has something to do with 2G and happens only when 2G is kept on. Many people also thought that this was a hardware bug and the device has to be replaced, but now Google has finally acknowledged and responded to this volume bug.
Google has said that they have been working on a "Fix" for Galaxy Nexus and will be pushing this fix on the devices pretty soon. I am sure all the Galaxy Nexus Owners out there must be very relieved by now knowing that this is not a hardware issue but a minor software bug which can be solved by a system update. What remains to be seen is that when Google will be ready with the update and will it be coming with a Android 4.1 update or will it be a normal downloadable package, etc which is unconfirmed. So stay tuned, we will be reporting more on ...

Adhering to Google’s third-quarter earnings report in the previous week, David Barnard, founder of App Cubby, established an intriguing observation on his company’s blog, Google declared a run rate of $2.5 billion for its cellular ad revenue based on third-quarter earnings, up from $1 billion a year previously.
While that feat is extraordinary, Barnard stated that Apple paid developers about $500 million between July 7th and October 4th for a run rate of $2 billion. Adding to that the money third-party ad networks like Milennial Media and Admob pay out to iOS developers over the course of a year, and “the iOS developer run rate is likely higher, maybe even significantly higher, than Google’s mobile run rate.” This means that developers who figure and retail their apps for Apple’s iOS platform will, on a whole, make lots more money over the next year than Google will earn from its complete mobile business.

Android developer Breezy has already managed to bring Android 4.0 ie Ice Cream Sandwich to the Nexus S 4G. The developer has been working off the Android image from latest SDK release.
The developer plans to release the image shortly though as of now there is no-functioning WiFi, Bluetooth, cellular data. The touchscreen is also not fully optimized at the moment. Google has already confirmed that the Nexus S will be getting Android 4.0 soon but if you are particularly eager to get the latest and greatest version of the OS you might want to try out the custom ROM as soon as it hits !

Go ahead to and sign up Samsung.com(but keep coming back here to be briefed) , to keep yourself informed about whenever the genuine and approved updates are accessible. Complying with, and allowing you to pick either of these - Verizon, Cellular South (now C Spire), AT&T, Sprint, US Cellular, T-Mobile, and MetroPCS networks; we are still restricted from recognizing which of these carriers the gadget will be released to. Keep referring to our blog, and you will be ahead of all your tech savvy buddies to get the latest info on the Galaxy Nexus from Samsung, as we do our best to care for your needs.
Considering Google staff members and employees have been using the allotted version, Verizon is pretty sure to get the Galaxy Nexus (at the moment), although we still await valid acknowledgment for the possible choice of carriers. US Cellular and MetroPCS would delightfully carry the device; it would be gratifying to see the bargain that will be proclaimed.

The Google Nexus Prime, the first Android Ice Cream Sandwich device that will be manufactured by Samsung has been spotted on a Singaporean online store.
The site shows three pictures of the phone. One being the picture from the teaser for the event that Samsung had released a while ago. The second picture being the one that was leaked a few days ago and believed to be the Google Nexus Prime.
The third picture is of the back but seems to be a picture of the back of the Nexus S. We're not sure how legit it is since there's no information given about the handset.
The device was supposed to be announced at an event on 11th October but Google and Samsung called off the event to pay respect to Steve Jobs. The phone is now expected to be released on 19th October.

Motorola Mobility is being sued by a patent holding company that is partially funded by Google. This lawsuit is one of the many innovation-stifling mobile patent disputes currently engulfing the smartphone industry.
Intellectual Ventures has accused Motorola of using technologies pertaining to six patents owned by them without license. These patents relates to file transfers, and updates and remote data management. According to Intellectual Ventures, they and Motorola Mobility have been in talks since January 2011, but were unable to reach a licensing agreement.
While no Google cash is being used in this lawsuit against Motorola, some experts has questioned Google's commitment and ability to defend their Android partners - or in this case, a possible future Google-owned bed fellow. Google is in the process of acquiring Motorola Mobility.
Intellectual Ventures was founded by former Microsoft chief technology officer, Nathan Myhrvold. They own around 35,000 patents relating to technology but do not manufacturer products themselves, and has succeeded in raising over US$5 billion from companies such as Microsoft, Apple, Nokia and of course, Google. Shane Robinson, CTO of Hewlett Packard has described them as a patent troll.

With RIM's Blackberry Developer Conference just around the corner , rumors suggest that the company has been taking a serious look at the Android platform as well. If the leaked image is to be believed then the long rumored BlackBerry Messenger app for Android should be making its debut at the event.
Previously RIM is said to have been actively courting Android developers to attend its developer event. For more than a few people the reason to stick with their BlackBerry devices is BBM , with an app for that on Android we can expect a lot of users to defect from the platform.
