Apple has issued a general warning to all developers telling them to avoid scamming market ratings via third party services. With over 500,000 apps in the store , developers have to resort to various tactics to gain app store visibility.
Once you build a great app, you want everyone to know about it. However, when you promote your app, you should avoid using services that advertise or guarantee top placement in App Store charts. Even if you are not personally engaged in manipulating App Store chart rankings or user reviews, employing services that do so on your behalf may result in the loss of your Apple Developer Program membership. Get helpful tips and resources on marketing your apps the right way from the App Store Resource Center.
While it is understandable that a developer might want to promote his app to the top to ensure visibility , a poorly coded app at the top of the store would not bode well for users who might end up using an inferior product. While the question of app discovery still remains unanswered , banning developers who rely on scams to gain visibility would definitely be a step in the right direction.

Apple had just recently announced that it had managed to sell 37.04 million iPhones, 15.43 million iPads and 15.4 million iPods in Q1 2012. Now it has revealed plans to reward Apple employees following the record breaking quarter results.
During a session at Town Hall with employees, Apple CEO Tim Cook has just announced some new employee benefits. Employees of the company will be able to purchase Apple products at a discounted rate. Macs will receive a 500$ discount and iPads will receive a 250$ discount.
The privileges are expected to kick off by June 2012. However in order to enjoy the benefits, the employee must have worked at Apple for a minimum period of 90 days and the offer can be used only every three years so the employees might have to choose wisely. Also, the discount on Macs does not apply to the Mac Mini.

There are many people waiting for these tools from a long time and though the mac versions have already been released the windows users always have to wait but now the wait is over, you can download it directly from here. As this is the untethered jailbreak you will not have to worry about loosing root when rebooted, so go ahead and enjoy.

Apple might open it's own Retail Stores in India soon according to a report by LiveMint which quotes an unnamed source in a government body Department of Industrial Policy and Promotion. The Indian government has approved 100% Foreign Direct Investment FDI in Single Brand Retail recently. So such a move by Apple will not be surprising,as they have massive expansion plans for Asia. Apple has not commented much about India in particular in the past but the quick launch of the iPad 2 with decent pricing and iPhone 4S with crazy pricing are indications of things to come. The most popular tablet I see when I travel in India is the iPad and I have spotted a lot of iPhones as well.Currently Apple products are sold in India by Imagine and iStore who are resellers. Although these stores do a good job , it still lags behind in terms of the shopping experience compared to company owned stores. Also if Apple gets into the game directly, we might see better pricing for the products. Do we need the real Apple Stores in India ? Yes. It's about time ! and Starbucks please come to India too !

Using technology developed for its high end cars like the 370z , Murano and the X-Trail ; Nissan has managed to develop an iPhone case which can heal itself on being chipped.
The science behind the seemingly magical case is that polyrotoxane , the material used for making the case automatically reacts to chips and fill in the gaps due to its molecular structure. The iPhone case is made from ABS plastic to create a tight and rigid case, and its coated with Scratch Shield paint. The scratch resistant paint creates a better grip to hold the handset. Nissan is currently testing the case with a few journalists and a group of beta customers.

iMore reports that the iPhone might be getting deeper Facebook integration similar to Twitter in the next update ie iOS 5.1 . The website shows off screenshots from the beta 3 release which allows users to add Facebook names to the contact card.
The Facebook implementation could allow users to upload photos and videos straight from the camera to the popular service. In its last major update , Apple added Twitter integration to the OS making it extremely easy to tweet images from the handset instead having to rely on an app. Are you looking forward to this integration or would you prefer to use the individual apps for Facebook and Twitter ? Let us know in the comments below.

But this is just a preliminary ruling and the final ruling is yet to be made by the International Trade Commission.
Just a few months back Apple had filed a patent violation against Motorola with respect to touchscreen, multitouch and software installation, in a preliminary ruling ITC has discarded all the claims made by Apple after Motorola came back with with counter claims from it's own camp. The preliminary ruling is of importance when it comes to the final ruling, so this decision play a major role. Let's wait and see what happens from here.

Just a few days back we had heard and praised Apple for deciding to sell their latest iPhone 4S in China, but just before the device was going to be launched Apple decided that the doors to the Apple stores will remain shut and the sales of iPhone 4S in all the Apple sotres in China will be stopped temporarily.
The main reason for this is, huge crowd gathered outside the Apple stores for buying this new device, they were worried about the products being tampered with and also for the safety concerns of employees and customers. The sales of iPhone 4S has been stopped in Beijing Apple store and three other stores in Shanghai. Though it is available in various unofficial retailers and outlets and is also available online.
This decision was not welcomed by iPhone fans gathered outside these stores as there has been news about the stores being pelted with eggs, and shouts outside the stores because all these people have been waiting for the doors to open from quite some time. Apple has also said that the sales has been stopped temporarily and will resume pretty soon. So all the people in China should be patient and wait for ...

One thing I passionately hate about the iPhone 4S is the inability to turn 3G data off. This is annoying if you are using the device in areas where 3G coverage is not great. The phone does switch to 2G networks when 3G coverage is absent but users could not control it manually. It kills the battery also pretty fast. Some were blaming the new Qualcomm chip in the device while rest were blaming Apple for their futuristic thinking of a world with flawless 3G / HSPA coverage. Now good news for all iPhone 4S users. In the latest developer build , the 3G network toggle has reappeared.I can confirm as you can seen in screenshots is a device running iOS 5.1 beta 3 which was released today.
On the left is the iPhone 4S on 2G. Full bars. On the right is the iPhone 4S on 3G with ONE bar. I use BSNL 3G on the 4S coz coverage is great outdoors but its not so great indoors. Hope the update improves the battery on the 4S.
I'm not sure why Apple decided to remove the 3G toggle while shipping the 4S.But good news is , it is coming soon to your ...

The display panel that you see in the picture above might be the much rumored retina display for the Apple iPad 3. There seems to be a change in the cable ribbon arrangement to support higher powered displays.
The picture below shows the comparison between the iPad 2 and supposed iPad 3 displays with the iPad 2 display being on the top.
The iPad 2 screen had two wide brown ribbon cables while the retina screen seems to have 3 brown ribbon cables for data. This would help to power the new display which supports a resolution on 2048x1536 pixels which means its four times the resolution of the previous generation iPads.

Earlier, we brought you the news that next year, the iPad launch might take place on February 24th, Steve Jobs birthday. Rumors state that next year, Apple is going to give us not one but two new iPads.
The new devices will bring a tablet line-up that is very similar to the iPhone line-up. The iPad 2 will remain as a cheaper variant like the iPhone 3GS and the iPhone 4 while the two new tablets would be priced as mid-range and high-range tablets.
Both the new iPads are said to feature the same dual LED backlit 9.7" display with 2048x1536 pixels resolution. We do not know what features distinguish the models from each other.
A smaller 7" tablet was reported as well but we think they might have given up that idea since Apple doesn't like to have too much diversity in the screen department because it causes problems with applications. The same issue was reported to be the cause of the iPhone 5 launch being delayed. So even if Apple is planning to eventually launch the device, the source says it isn't going to be launched next year.
The launch date suggested by DigiTimes is sometime in January rather than the February ...

Apple has launched their 12 Days of Christmas freebie promotion on iTunes. The promotion period is from 26th December to 6th January.
You can download the 12 Days of Christmas application to get access to these freebies. Each freebie will be available only for 24 hours and so it would be better to check for a new one everyday.
The application requires iOS 4.3 or later and is compatible with:
	iPhone 3GS, iPhone 4 and iPhone 4S
iPod Touch 3rd Gen and iPod Touch 4th Gen
	iPad and iPad 2
The first freebie is a free Coldplay album for the users in UK. The freebies should include music videos, games, apps etc. Currently it seems that the freebies are only available to customers in Europe. But we hope a US and then a worldwide version would be released.

The rumors for the next Apple product have already started and this one states that Apple might be readying the iPad 3 for a launch on Steve Jobs' birthday.
According to a Chinese newspaper, the company is reportedly set on launching its new tablet, the iPad 3 on February 24th which happens to be the birthday of Apple founder and late CEO Steve Jobs.
But Apple do to usually go hunting for special dates to launch their products, instead they believe that launching their products would make their products special and it is highly unlikely that they will announce the product unless its completely ready.
So we can't be sure right now if the launch would indeed take place on February 24th but we can be sure that it'll be a great tribute to Steve Jobs if it does.

Amazon has just revealed that they have managed t sell over a million Kindle e-books per week. Amazon do not usually disclose their sales figures particularly ones relating to their Kindle devices.
However, the company was forced to give a rough estimate of sales, due to the large number of reports circulating the web regarding the issues of the Kindle Fire. The figure is quite big not just by Amazon standards.
“We’ve already sold millions of units, and we’re building millions more to meet the high demand, Kindle Fire sales increased week-over-week for each of the past three weeks.” - Dave Limp (VP, Amazon Kindle)
Although both are devices of different categories, the Kindle Fire's main rival is the Apple iPad. The main selling point of the Kindle would be the pricing which is at 199 US$. A lot cheaper than Apple's product. But Amazon's product caters mainly to the readers while the iPad targets consumers who want entertainment.
Which means that Amazon have to find other ways to attract the consumers into purchasing their products especially since the holiday season is approaching. Apple products such as the iPads and iPhones are known for their huge range of accessories and Amazon too are trying ...

Roughly designed around the iTunes App Store for the iPad, iPhone and iPod Touch, Apple fashioned the online outlet the previous year as a steadfast place to obtain their Mac software. A million people doubted it. Yet, as of today, Apple proclaimed that the Mac App Store crossed above 100 million downloads. It abides the same 70-30 profits divide, where software developers split 30% of their trade with Apple, except if the application is free of charge.
However, the Mac App store is now the leading online software store on the planet.
Apple’s take on the subject:
CUPERTINO, Calif.–(BUSINESS WIRE)– Apple today announced that over 100 million apps have been downloaded from the Mac App Store™ in less than one year. With thousands of free and paid apps, the Mac App Store brings the App Store experience to the Mac so you can find great new apps, buy them using your iTunes account, and download and install them in just one step. Apple revolutionized the app industry with the App Store, which now has more than 500,000 apps and where customers have downloaded more than 18 billion apps and continue to download more than 1 billion apps per month.

As part of a massive redesign effort , Twitter today unveiled new apps for iOS , Android alongside an improved web interface. The version 4.0 update for the iPhone is a huge change with a slick design, soothing graphics, more features and a whole lot of performance improvements. It has its own pros and cons. We'll be doing a complete walk through the new app whilst comparing it with the previous (version 3.3.5) release. Unless mentioned , all images on the right are from Twitter for iOS version 4 and those on the left are from the older release.
Starting with the Sign Up/Sign In screen, there's a new look and feel to it. The older one being dull and plain, showed trending topics whereas the new one is more stylish yet simple. Twitter 4.0 for iOS gives the app a very fresh look due to the use of improved graphics on buttons and opting for a simpler launch screen.
Tapping the sign in button reveals the login screen where you can enter your details. The first thing you will notice is the change in the topbar colour. The old app used the stock colour of the iOS whereas the new one ...

Under Apple's Editorial picks, photo manipulation and sharing app Instagram won the 'iPhone App Of The Year' award.

The extremely popular photo sharing iOS app , Instagram is finally coming to Android. In an interview with CNET , CEO Kevin Systrom mentioned that two engineers were already working on an Android port of the application.
Pictured above , Instagram 2.0 for iPhone
Instagram already enjoys over 14million users on the iOS platform ! The application lets users apply filters on captured images giving them a uniquely retro look. The company plans to generate a revenue stream via advertisements in the application.
"I think the advertising experience is going to be extremely engaging," Systrom said. "It's much harder with text," but Instagram offers photos, and brand names such as Audi, Kate Spade, and Burberry have joined Instagram.
Instagram expects to double its membership to about 30 million users with the launch of the Android app.

TIPB reports that the much anticipated game 'Infinity Blade 2' might be facing widespread issues on older generation hardware including the 1st gen iPad and 4th gen iPod Touch.
The successor to the fastest selling iOS game , 'Infinity Blade' , is said to crash on launch on the above mentioned hardware. The problem seems to stem from the way iOS handles icon caching leading to the game running out of memory. The Epic team is already working on a fix and has updated the app description on the store.

The Apple iPhone 4S was launched on both Aircel and Airtel in India today at a midnight launch ceremony. The Airtel launch was held at an upscale restaurant while Aircel decided to keep it real by holding the event at their South Extension market retail outlet. The launch events included handing over the handsets to the first pre-order customers.
You've already seen the plans on both the carriers. The iPhone 4S in India does not seem to have any specific tweaks made to Siri. Mapping via Siri did not work during our trials.
The Indian accent was also quite a hit or miss for the voice control service. The iPhone 4S has been priced at Rs 44,500 for the 16GB model.

Now who doesn’t love a satire? And a satire it is, the new Samsung Galaxy SII advert telling customers that "the next big thing is already here". It is funny, refreshing and tremendously daring as it mocks the die-hard Apple’s cult following. Lines such as "I could never get a Samsung – I'm creative," to which another customer responds "dude, you're a barista." crack me up further. The spoof is wholly obscured by remarks like "uh oh – the blogs are saying the battery looks sketchy," or "if it looks the same, how will people know I upgraded?" but a quick look of an iPhone can be clearly seen in the footage. The 60-second advert points out to some of the SII's remarkable features – specifically the huge, vivacious screen and 4G potential.

We know that this isn’t the first ad that has mocked Apple, but it does so devoid of mentioning the name of the corporation, kudos to that. This ad hit Facebook on Tuesday evening and will be premiered on TV on Thanksgiving.

One developer @Plamoni has managed to create a Proxy Server for hacking around Siri - the virtual assistant found on the Apple iPhone 4S. Since he shared the source code on github another developer put together a twitter plugin which lets you tweet using Siri. Watch the video below where the developer of this twitter plugin for the Siri Proxy Server shows how Siri can be used to tweet. Damn Cool !

The creator of the proxy server controls the temperature of a WiFi thermostat using Siri.

While we got some news about the Apple iPhone 4S pricing from Aircel , we now have the pricing from Airtel. Its not looking very different. The 16GB model is about Rs.400 lesser than on Aircel and priced at Rs.44500.There is a 64GB option at Rs.57500. The 32GB model is priced exactly the same at Rs.50900. Looks like Airtel is taking pre-bookings online . Apple does not directly sell iPhones in India and operators actually procure them and sell it here. The iPhone 4 pricing at Rs.34500 was actually pretty decent. But the iPhone 4S pricing seems very high. There is also news that the iPhone 4 8GB version will cost Rs.37900 and the 3GS will cost Rs.20900. That looks like an increase in the cost of the iPhone 4 as well.
Till now we know about the expensive pricing of the device. Still no info on the tariff plans.
UPDATE: 64GB iPhone 4S has gone missing from the Pre-order page. Would you buy a phone at that price ? An entry level Macbook Air comes with an MRP of Rs.56,900 !

We have just heard that the Apple iPhone 4S wont be coming for cheap in India. The price of the 16GB and 32GB variants on Aircel are out . The cheapest version of the iPhone 4S which is the 16GB version will come for Rs.44900 and the 32GB version will retail for a shocking Rs.50900. This information comes from a Nidhi Singal who walked into a Aircel store in the capital New Delhi and got this information. As you would know both Airtel and Aircel announced that they are launching the iPhone 4S in India . Both the operators are starting Pre-Orders from Nov 18 that is today and with this kind of pricing I'm not sure how many users would actually still think of getting one.
There is no word about the 64GB version and from what we have heard , it may never come to India at this point as even the 32GB version is priced above Rs.50000.I seriously can't digest this pricing . Is there some record for the costliest phone sold in India being broken here ? And we have not heard anything about the cheaper version of the iPhone 4.
We are still trying to confirm if ...
