Hackers publish private messages from at least 81,000 Facebook accounts, Rogue Browser extension blamed

According to a BBC Report, Hackers said to have compromised and published private messages from at least 81,000 Facebook users’ accounts. The perpetrators said that they had details from a total of 120 million accounts, which they were attempting to sell. However, Facebook says that its security has not been compromised. According to the latest report from The Information, Facebook is planning on buying a “major” cybersecurity company and has already offered deals to “several” companies. Though the names of the companies remain unknown, Facebook reportedly to buy software that could fold into its existing services, such as tools for signaling hacking attempts or securing individual accounts.

Facebook said to testing ‘Unsend’ message feature months after confirming

There was a security breach in Facebook two weeks ago that allowed hackers to control 50 million accounts and the company today is sharing more details about the attack. The attackers said to have exploited a vulnerability in Facebook’s code that existed between July 2017 and September 2018.
