So i decided to test the my lovely Apple wireless keyboard with the Nokia N97 and the great news is that it Works !

Imagine the power of a computer keyboard on a phone ! My word count on the N97 hit an all time high and I could literally type a whole bunch of stuff really fast . Next time , we live-blog or tweet from any event , expect us to carry this lethal combination. The phone detects the keyboard out of the box but to get pairing working you need to install this application from Official Application from Nokia Website http://bit.ly/n97wkbd

It’s actually an old application and does not support the N97 officially. ( you might get a device not supported kind of error when installing . ignore it )

The event started and ended with Advaita putting on a spectacular show by playing some of their songs which are incidentally available on Nokia Music Store for download. I found the songs to be very good and I would strongly suggest you to download ‘em all. Jasmeet asked them what the word ‘Advaita’ meant, well this is what it  means -- non-duality, it is a Sanskrit word. They (the band) stated that they are inspired by music that is transcendental.

Nokia’s Music Store is a new approach towards delivering music content to people. Jasmeet mentioned in his brief presentation that the formats for music have changed, but music by itself has not. It is interesting to note that India has close to 1000 movies being launched every year and if you assume 6 songs on an average per movie, we are talking 6000 songs annually, which is quite a number if you ask me.

Mr. Gandhi went on to add that we are at such a point that want our music at our convenience and in our format, and on a portable device. In face today, many of us choose to not pay for music that we own. This means that an artiste performs and creates the music but doesn’t earn anything because everyone wants it free. This is where Nokia comes in, it has the reach and that’s clearly visible with the number of handsets it sells in India. Nokia Music allows the user to download the content he/she wants and that too from a library of 3 million songs (30 lakh songs) which will be increasing regularly now. And with ‘Free tracks of the Week’ one can be assured of something free  every week. If you want to listen to a track before buying it then you can actually listen to a 30 second clip of it and then download it. Which means that you know what you are buying.

Mr. Gandhi was also quizzed about why one could not use a credit card at the store, he replied by stating that, the majority of the people (target audience) does not have credit cards, a student for example might not have a credit card,  thus making voucher based distribution easier as it allows tapping different forms of distribution, in fact one doesn’t need a PC for it, just a phone. Credit cards were also not expected to give Nokia volumes either. he did however mention that adding that as a payment mode was a minor thing and could be done anytime, if a demand for it arose.

The duration of the music is the tricky part, a song of 7 minutes is considered as one track, increments of 3 minutes thereafter makes the song a 2 track song. Further increment of 3 minutes – 3 track song. What this means is that when you are downloading a song from the store of duration 11 minutes, the store will consider them as 3 tracks and will deduct three tracks from your voucher. This is bit unfair, but I don’t know if many people will object to it or no.

Mr. Gandhi also assured us that by the first quarter of next year we shall see ‘Comes With Music’ branded devices in India. This means the X6 and the X3 will be available from next year.

This headset as described by Nokia on their Conversations blog is “a different beast that has been engineered and crafted into what can only be described as a flagship headphone accessory“. The headset is high on active noise cancellation technology so much so that Nokia call themselves the technology leaders, the first company in the world to bring this technology to the consumers. So how is the Noise cancellation technology in this product different from other products in the market?? well the very same question arose in my mind and here’s how it cancels noise via its Active Noise Cancellation.

The BH-905 uses eight out of the ten microphones(four in each ear cup, highlighted in red in the pic above)  on board to cancel out the noise around you in its quest to make you achieve Music Nirvana. The larger number of microphones on board ensures better and symmetrical noise cancellation, thus enhancing your overall listening experience.

The remaining two of its microphones(highlighted in green) serve the purpose that a microphone normally does i.e. to capture your voice and transfer it other end when you are on a call, while ensuring that the two microphones cancel the background noise so that the person at the other end of the call hears you crystal clear.

Nokia is pushing this product to be used with not only their handsets but also almost ever where. They have bundled the headset along with Extension Audio Cable to allow you to use it with any 3.5mm plugin jack. Also packed in the box are an adapter for airplane and an adapter 6.3 mm home stereo. These bundled adapters make the BH-905 a truly versatile product.

The headset has blind usage i.e. the call buttons are on one side and the music buttons on the other so one can use the device without having to look at it.

The headset has a 600mAh battery on board powering it to a maximum Talk time 24 hours with bluetooth turned on and 15 hours with bluetooth and active noise cancellation turned on. The headset shall last for about 25 hours while listening to music via bluetooth, 16 hours if you use bluetooth along with active noise cancellation. If you plan to use the headset with a wire connecting it to the player, along with active noise cancellation then you can squeeze 40 hours of playtime from this device and the best part is that you can use it for hands-free phone calls and music listening (without active noise cancellation) even with empty battery (wired connection)

Well as we all know that high end technology does come with high cost, so the BH-905 is no exception and it shall cost you around Rs 20,000

Philips Tapster

The name should reveal it all. Though Philips is not very prominent in the Indian Scenario, they are really very good in technology aspects. Philips is actually a technology leader when it comes to Audio and the Green technology. And they are also known for their exceedingly high capacity batteries and reliable low featured focussed phones. Coming to the post , as the name suggests yes and as the picture shows we are talking about Philips latest Bluetooth Headset. So what is peculiar, lot of them are being made from almost everyone including Nokia, Samsung, SE, Iqua, etc. So what is its speciality.

It features ultra sensitive touch and tap controls, which allows you to answer calls, and change the volume, and removing the device automatically transfers the call to your mobile.
