After a rather pronounced series of tweets and hype building, Yu finally let loose the Yuphoria earlier this week. The handset is a comparatively lower end device compared to the Yureka launched earlier this year and in some ways complements it. The promise is quite enticing. Fast updates via CyanogenMod and best in class hardware for as low a cost as possible. However in that race, compromises have to be made. Meizu India launch set for May 18, M1 Note expected

Meizu, one of the popular Chinese smartphone makers already announced that it will enter the Indian market soon. Today the company has announced on its social channels it will finally be coming to in India on May 18th. The new teaser says Are you ok? 5.18 See! See! We’ve heard you and here is the date. #0518 – J. Wong, a message from Meizu’s founder Jack Wong. Meizu has not revealed which smartphone it will launch in India first. It started teasing the M1 Note smartphone since last month on its social channels and we also got to check out the smartphone last month.

This practically brings it full circle to the first effort that the company had made in the mobility space.
