Worldwide smartphone shipments hit 355.2M, soars 6.8% in Q3 2015: IDC

Samsung Q3 2015 profits up 29% YoY

Samsung has reported its earnings for Q3 2015, in which the company has made operating profit of 7.39 trillion ($6.42 billion) for the quarter that ended September 30, 2015, up 82% from 4.06 trillion won compared to the same quarter last year. It has reported net profit of 5.46 trillion won ($4.8 billion), up 29.38% YoY, on revenues of 51.68 trillion won ($45.6 billion), up 6% quarter-on-quarter (QoQ), driven mainly by its Semiconductor Business and the Display Panel segment. Last quarter it reported net profit of 5.75 trillion won ($4.9 billion). Samsung Exynos 8890 with custom cores for Galaxy S7 said to enter mass production in December

Toshiba agrees to sell image sensor business to Sony

Toshiba Corporation today confirmed earlier reports that it will sell CMOS image sensor business to Sony Corporation. It will help it to overhaul its unprofitable semiconductor businesses after the company shared that it overstated earnings by $1.3 billion going back to fiscal 2008-2009. Even though the company did not confirm how much the deal is worth, it is worth around 20 billion yen ($166.15 million) according to Reuters. 14,000 Lenovo Vibe P1m units sold out in 10 seconds in first flash sale on Flipkart

Lenovo launched the Vibe P1m smartphone in India last week.  It went on sale on Flipkart through flash sale at 3PM today.
