Micromax today launched its flagship Canvas 6 and Canvas 6 Pro smartphones at its Guts to Change event in Gurgaon. The Canvas 6 has a metal unibody design and comes with a fingerprint sensor on the back. Both the phones have a 5.5-inch 1080p display, come with a 13-megapixel rear camera with LED flash, PDAF for quick focus, have 4G LTE support and pack a 3000mAh battery. The Canvas 6 Pro is powered by an Octa-Core MediaTek Helio X10 processor.

Meizu just announced PRO 6, the company’s latest flagship smartphone at an event in China. It has a 5.2-inch 1080p AMOLED display with 3D press that perceives different levels of pressure on the screen, 0.715mm narrow frame, 70.8mm width and 2.5D Corning Gorilla Glass 3 Protection. It is powered by a Deca-Core MediaTek Helio X25 SoC, has 4GB of RAM, 21-megapixel rear camera with dual-tone 10-LED Ring flash, Laser auto focus and phase-detection auto-focus (PDAF) for quick focus in just 0.07 seconds. It has a 5-megapixel front-facing camera and runs Flyme OS 5.5 based on Android 6.0 (Marshmallow). Logitech acquires Jaybird for $50 million

Logitech today announced that it has agreed to acquire Jaybird, popular for its wireless audio wearables for US$50 million in cash, with an additional earn-out of up to $45 million based on achievement of growth targets over the next two years. Xiaomi certainly has been busy but that doesn’t mean that it can afford to forget the upper end of the market. Once again with the Mi 5, the company is launching a handset that is flagship grade at least on paper while undercutting the competition in terms of pricing. Last year at the CES 2015, JBL introduced Reflect Aware earphones with active noise cancellation that draws power through Lightning Connector in Apple devices or Micro USB, rather than using a standard 3.5mm headphone jack. Now it has introduced Reflect Aware C earphones in partnership with HTC that is the first to use USB Type-C. It also has active noise cancellation and adaptive noise control. Qualcomm Design in India Challenge finalists eligible for funding of up to $10,000 announced

Qualcomm launched its Design in India Challenge few months back, today it has announced 10 finalists of the first edition of the Challenge. “In association with the National Association of Software and Services Companies (NASSCOM), the Qualcomm Design in India Challenge aims to catalyze the creation of a product and hardware design ecosystem in India in the domains of smartphones, tablets and Internet of Things (IoT) for agriculture, automotive, banking, education, healthcare, smart cities and wearables,” said Qualcomm.

HTC 10 (Lifestyle) comes with Snapdragon 652 and 3GB RAM in India [Update]

[Update:  HTC’s global online communications manager Jeff Gordon says that India will get the Snapdragon 820-powered HTC 10 and not the HTC 10 Lifestyle. The official website has also been updated.]

HTC just announced its flagship HTC 10 smartphone with a 5.2-inch Quad HD 2.5D curved glass display, Snapdragon 820 SoC and 4GB of RAM. But the Indian variant is called the HTC 10 Lifestyle, is powered by an Octa-Core Snapdragon 652 SoC and 3GB of RAM. Russia is also getting the same variant. It is not clear why HTC is launching a different variant in some markets. Hope this one will be cheaper compared to the Snapdragon 820 version.
