Gionee S9 with 5.5-inch 1080p display, dual rear cameras, 4GB RAM, 4G VoLTE announced

Gionee just announced S9, its latest smartphone with dual rear cameras in China, as it had promised. It has a 13-megapixel rear camera with Sony sensor along with a 5-megapixel secondary camera with Samsung sensor for capturing images with depth of field blur effects. It has a unibody metal design, packs a 5.5-inch 1080p display, is powered by an Octa-Core MediaTek Helio P10 processor, runs on Android 6.0 (Marshmallow) with Amigo OS 3.2 and a 13-megapixel front-facing camera.

Vivo V5 with 20MP front camera, 4GB RAM, fingerprint sensor launched in India for Rs. 17980

Vivo just launched V5, the company’s latest selfie-focused smartphone in the ‘V series’ in India. It is the first smartphone to come with a 20-megapixel front-facing camera with Sony IMX376 1/2.78″ sensor, f/2.0 aperture and 5p lens. It also has ‘Moonlight Glow’ that induces a natural glow on the face that lights up the picture irrespective of the lighting conditions. Vivo says that this allows users to take perfect selfies in diverse lighting conditions. Huawei introduced the Mate 9 its flagship smartphone at an event in Germany earlier this month. Now it has introduced Mate 9 Pro in China, which is a version of the Porsche Design Huawei Mate 9 without the graphite finish, but it still has the second generation Leica dual-lens camera with 12-megapixel RGB sensor, 20-megapixel monochrome sensor and Hybrid Zoom, featuring 2x magnification, dual-tone LED flash, laser auto focus, optical image stabilization (OIS) and uses Huawei’s own ISP. Samsung to acquire HARMAN for $8 billion to boost connected car tech

Samsung Electronics and Harman International Industries, Incorporated, popular for its connected car solutions today announced that they have entered into a definitive agreement under which Samsung will acquire HARMAN for $112.00 per share in cash, or total equity value of approximately $8.0 billion. This is the biggest overseas acquisition ever by a South Korean firm.

Facebook demos record 20 Gbps data rate over 13 km with millimeter-wave technology

Earlier this year Facebook introduced terrestrial connectivity systems – Terragraph and Project ARIES (Antenna Radio Integration for Efficiency in Spectrum) in an aim to provide better internet connections in both rural and urban areas. Xiaomi pulls 1.295 billion yuan in sales, sells 1 million Redmi 4A units on Single’s Day 2016 in China

Xiaomi conducts China’s marathon 24-hour online sales event on Singles Day that falls on November 11th every year in cooperation with Tmall, the largest online marketplace in China. Last year it made US$196 million (RMB 1.25 billion). This year Xiaomi has announced that it made $189.9 million (RMB 1.295 billion) on Tmall in 23 hours 20 minutes, which is slightly more than last year’s sales. OnePlus 3 Android Nougat beta to roll out this November, stable update by 2016-end

OnePlus 3, the company’s flagship smartphone will get Android 7.0 (Nougat) beta or “community” build by the end of this month. Brian Yoon, the company’s head of software, in an interview with Engadget also announced that it will roll out Android Noguat over-the-air update to all the OnePlus 3 users by the end of the year once all the bugs are ironed out.
