Native code , Support for more languages coming to Windows Phone ?

Windows Phone fansite , WPSauce , reporting live from the Windows Phone Dev Camp in India says that future versions of Windows Phone will support upto 120 languages. Equally interesting is the news that C++ native code support will be coming to Windows Phone in the near future.

[Updated] Nokia publishes Q4 2011 results , Sells over 1 million Lumia smartphones

Nokia just published their Q4 2011 results with predictably dropping sales. What is interesting to note is that the Finnish cellphone manufacturer managed to sell over 1  million Lumia devices. Sales are 31% lower than the same quarter last year essentially selling 19.6 million units. These numbers however are 17% up since Q3 2011.

Nokia received $250million from Microsoft in Q4 2011

Nokia’s Q4 results report reveals that it has received a “platform support payment” from Microsoft to the tune of $250 million.

Nokia states that this fee is on a per quarter basis which means that it will be getting more such payments in the future. Over the course of the agreement , platform support payment are expected to figure in billions of dollars. Nokia still has to pay an OS licensing fee of approximately $27 per device sold to Microsoft.

HTC Titan II announced : 16 Megapixels , LTE

HTC just announced the Titan II , successor to what still remains the biggest WP7 handset to hit the market. The Titan II bumps the spec sheet by including integrated LTE connectivity. The screen size still is a massive 4.7″ at a disappointing WVGA resolution though this remains a WP7 limitation.

Sony Xperia Ion announced at CES , Coming to AT&T

AT&T has just announced the Xperia Ion at its CES keynote event. The Android smartphone sports a 4.6″ HD 720p display. The camera is a 12MP unit equipped with Sony’s proprietary Exmor R technology for better low light capabilities. 16GB of inbuilt storage will be available on the LTE equipped device.

Sony Ericsson MT27i ‘Pepper’ spotted in the wild

Right on the heels of the SE Nozomi leak comes the Sony Ericsson MT27i also called the Pepper. The handset appears to be the successor the Sony Ericsson Neo. The design seems to follow a two tone color scheme featuring black and white body panels.
