Apple Countersues Nokia

The battle between Apple and Nokia got a little more bitter today as Apple Countersues Nokia. Nokia had earlier sued Apple over patent infringements

Apple is now claiming that Nokia is stealing their technology.

Its quotes Anssi Vanjoki, Nokia’s Executive VP, at an event in 2007 when he compared Nokia’s products to the iPhone: “[If] there is something good in the world, we copy with pride.”

Below is the press release from Apple’s Legal Department

CUPERTINO, California—December 11, 2009—Responding to a lawsuit brought against the company by Nokia, Apple® today filed a countersuit claiming that Nokia is infringing 13 Apple patents.

“Other companies must compete with us by inventing their own technologies, not just by stealing ours,” said Bruce Sewell, Apple’s General Counsel and senior vice president.

Apple ignited the personal computer revolution in the 1970s with the Apple II and reinvented the personal computer in the 1980s with the Macintosh. Today, Apple continues to lead the industry in innovation with its award-winning computers, OS X operating system and iLife and professional applications. Apple is also spearheading the digital media revolution with its iPod portable music and video players and iTunes online store, and has entered the mobile phone market with its revolutionary iPhone.

UPDATE : Apple  is also accusing Nokia of making unreasonable demands for licensing.

      Dude get your facts right OK!!! Nokia has been the market leader for the last 10yrs or so when apple didn’t even enter the cell phone market. So please chose your words when you don’t know the facts OK!!!

    obviously i am with nokia or companies which open os like maemo,android and may be symbian, apple is nothing but selfish who first stole the iphone name from cisco, then their exorbitant prices for made in china tag and to make things right they also show designed in california tag, then networking technologies from Scandinavian companies like Nokia and Ericsson.My Guessing is that hardware cost 30-40% of the total iphone price and rest we pay to Apple OS which we can’t even customise before hacking and there is no proper flash support till now, and no multitasking support but there are 3rd supports but it struggles run more than one day.
