Uninor Launches Mobile Services in India

Uninor, a Joint venture between the second biggest realtor in India, Unitech Ltd and the Norway Based Telenor, 6th largest mobile communications group in the world has now ventured into the already overcrowded Indian Telecom industry by announcing the launch of GSM services in 7 different circles i.e Tamil Nadu, Kerala, Karnataka, Andhra Pradesh, Uttar Pradesh East and West, and Bihar including Jharkhand recently.

Telenor Group CEO and President Jon Fredrik Baksaas said that “The network of Uninor will cover a national footprint of close to 600 million subscribers from the day one”.

The company has currently introduced 2 introductory tariff plans:

1. Talk Longer @ 29 paisa: This plan is for those who call less but talk longer. This plan would allow users to make local and STD Calls at just 29 paisa and 49 paisa per minute respectively. The plan also has 100 free Uninor to Uninor SMS per day and subsequently 10 paise/ SMS.

2. Call More @ 29 paisa: This plan is for those who likes to make endless number of calls in a single day. The tariff is pretty much the same as above except for a fact that there is daily rental of Rs.2.

Both the tariffs are of Life time validity and bears an activation charge of Rs. 49 initially.
