Millions of Illegal Mobile Phones without valid IMEI go dead

on December 1, 2009 – 6:36 pm6 Comments

China MobilesMillions of illegal mobile phones without a valid IMEI number have gone dead in India today due a government order that was issued to tackle misuse of mobile phones especially terrorists.  Many users who had left comments in your IMEI Check post have fallen a prey to this incident.  We already warned you about the disconnection yday For example  a user wrote in that he was using a Chinese DUAL SIM mobile phone but a check on this IMEI number shows that the number is actually registered for a Nokia N95  in Europe. Illegally sold China mobiles account for more than 20% of the domestic handset market. Although they are cheap and feature rich, they might cause health problems due to high SAR levels. According to BBC there are 25 million phones with a valid IMEI in India

But sadly this move has not only affected illegal mobile phones but also some legitimate brands like Spice Mobiles for example.

Let us know if you are victim of this movement.
