Apple More Profitable Than Nokia in handset business

Apple has been setting records everywhere it goes and the cellphone industry is not an exception. Apple has enjoyed tremendous success with the launch of the Apple iPhone.

Now according to sources, Apple also seems to be making more profit by selling it’s iPhone than the profit made by the cellphone giant-Nokia. Apple surpassed Nokia or the first time in the 3rd quarter of 2009 to become the most profitable handset maker.

Apple made a profit of 1.6 Billion US$ while Nokia managed to get only 1.1 Billion US$. This fact is believable considering the huge iPhone sales and recent decline of Nokia’s handset sales. Nokia’s global marketshare too fell down from 41% to 35%.

Apple’s position as a cellphone maker is now stronger than ever. Nokia is also looking to regain it’s position with the launch of the Nokia N900 which is also one of the most expected handsets of 2009.

n900 is good but even still falls short of iphone in many places (even if it has good hardware)….nokia looks too much at the lower sector which is good but while samsung looking at both upper and lower sectors very well, Nokia’s cellphone sales are cutting down, and the high tech phones of nokia fail to deliver the complete experiance which nowadays people look for (except for the brilliant e-series)…..

maybe it’s time to bring a capacitive touch enabled e-series into the market…..

I really doubt this report as its hard to believe that Apple selling only 1 phone can beat profits of Nokia-which makes 100s of phones.

Are you comparing Apple as company Vs Nokia? Then it may be possible.

Comparison should be Apples to Apples :-)

Did’nt you tweeted that these numbers might be fake
    from beta news.

Now I really wonder how many stories about Apple’s success are true
