Micromax CEO Deepak Mehrotra quits, to join Pearson as MD

Deepak Mehrotra, CEO of Micromax India has quit to join Pearson as the new Managing Director for its India business, reports The Hindu Business Line. Deepak joined Micromax back in December 2011 as the Chief Executive Officer. Prior joining Micromax he served as Operations Director for North, West and South regions at Bharti Airtel, where  he was also involved in the deployment of the MNP strategy and 3G rollout plan.

He also served as Regional Vice President, Operations for Hindustan Coca Cola Beverages. He started his career with Asian Paints where he spent 11 years and became the Regional Sales Manager.  Deepak will be joining Pearson from October 21st 2013. Micromax did not announce the new CEO yet.

Micromax roped in Hugh Jackman as their brand ambassador earlier today. The company recently tied up with Aircel for bundled offers on its Smartphones and 3G dongles. It has also announced that it would preload BBM on all its Canvas Smartphones. Micromax is now the no. 2 Smartphone player with 22% marketshare in India, according to a recent report from IDC.
