Nokia announced today that it has filed an infringement complaint against Apple, alleging that Apple’s uberfamous iPhone is infringing on 10 of their patents for GSM, UMTS and wireless LAN (WLAN) standards.

According to a press release from Nokia, these patents have been licensed by some 40 other companies which includes virtually all the leading mobile device vendors, allowing the industry to benefit from Nokia’s innovation whereas Apple has always refused to agree to the appropriate terms of the license and has not paid for the right to use it ever thereby attempting to get a free ride on the back of Nokia’s innovation.

We will be covering this new twist with a great detail as it progresses and will be back with more details as soon as we get it.

The iPhone has been out for years with this tech, and Nokia is just now saying something? That’s ridiculous, and petty, and quite frankly looks desperate.

The damn phone has been out for over 2 years. They are obviously not aggressively enforcing the rights violations they are alleging after so much time. Legally they might be within the time frame, but we all know that companies wait years so that settlements will be higher than ever.

I phone is just the best . whatever Nokia says is upto them only. No one is going to believe after such long time . Nokia have to sue apple only because they know that they cannot beat them in competition with Iphone. I am a crazy fan of I phone . so any thing goes wrong against Iphone , goes wrong with me too.

We know all iPhone users love their iPhone but looks like Steve Jobs does not want pay Nokia their dues. Almost every other handset maker is paying an amount to Nokia for these patents it seems and Apple might have to give away few billion dollars according to analysts !
