Nokia 5530 XpressMusic Special Edition & Retail Edition Unboxing

on January 11, 2010 – 6:06 pm13 Comments

I recently received two different units of Nokia’s latest touchscreen S60 5th Edition device, the Nokia 5530 XpressMusic. This new unit is somehow a cheaper version of the 5800 XpressMusic, with a non-CarlZeiss 3.2MP camera, and no GPS or 3G connection, as well as a smaller screen size. The design though is cleaner than the 5800 XM, and it’s smaller in size. The software is also more advanced, with a more functional homescreen and kinetic scrolling implemented better across all long lists.

Here is the unboxing of these 2 units. The first one is a regular retail version that you can buy on the market. The second one is a special edition unit, with a different box design as well as an included set of Nokia mini speakers. I don’t know if you can find the Special Edition anywhere for sale, as it was sent by Nokia exclusively to bloggers and device testers.

When I try to view this video it says “This is a private video. If you have been sent this video, please make sure you accept the sender’s friend request.”.

How do I watch this video? If it private or it is top secret why is it put here? Did Nokia guys tell you that no one should view this video???

I had been to Nokia Concept store today and those guys don’t even know if this phone will be available in near future.

i have just confirmed from my friend who is a nokia store manager(pririty ones.) that the phone will be arriving within a fortnight ( i think nokia india is waiting for 26th jan). it will be around 12000 rs to 12500 rs.

I think Rs.12000 or 12500/- is still to much for this phone when compared to Nokia 5800. This should be selling around Rs.11000/- or less which is current price in international market.

This phone is an older model when we consider the introduction date and in other countries the price for this phone has come down and even Nokia is selling at discounted price from its online store. Anyone can check in Nokia US site.

Nice to know that Nokia even has a special edition for its 5530. For some strange reason this phone is not even available in India.

Looks like Nokia is been fixing its bugs for very long time or want to clear 5800 stock and they want to sell 5530 at high price when compared to the current market price in other countries(I have been monitoring the price moment of this phone across the world).

    Santo ,

I know you are very much interested in 5530 and you have been planning to get one for a long time.

  • Santo

    @Varun,

Yes, you are correct. I have been waiting for this phone for very long time. In fact if there is a news about this phone on internet you will see my comments there.
Last month I got in touch with top officials from Nokia India and one official assured that this phone will be available by 2nd week Jan in India.
He also acknowledged that they are trying to fix bugs in it and then release.
I like this phone for its looks and features. For some reason I did not like the look of either Nokia 5800 and 5230.
Nokia N97 mini is too costly and it is not worth spending that much because of my usage pattern.

I am counting days for this phone release and hopefully it is released without bugs and at a reasonable price.
