Plants vs. Zombies 2 for iOS clocks 16 million downloads in 5 days

PopCap games released the most expected Plants vs. Zombies 2 for iOS devices, iPhone, iPad and iPod Touch last Thursday. Now the Electronic Arts, distributor of the game is super exited to announce that the game has been downloaded more than 16 million times worldwide in just 5 days, making it the most successful and the biggest mobile game launch in EA’s history.

The game has also achieved biggest opening weekends on the App Store ever for a mobile game title and the day one downloads nearly doubled EA’s previous mobile record, says EA. In 5 days the game moved to Number 1 spot in game position on the App Store in 137 countries worldwide (on either the iPad or iPhone charts).

Here is the cumulative data from the 16 million downloads

  • Over 11 billion suns generated
  • Over 2 billion zombie waves
  • Over 4 billion plants planted
  • Over 25 million hours played

Plants vs. Zombies 2 launched in different languages in the App Store with more additional languages support coming soon. PopCap games has confirmed that the game would be available for other platforms later this year and beyond.
