hey. I use Vodafone, and there are 2 types of internet.
1) Vodafone Live! This is WAP, where you cant use apps like profimail and messenger apps. Push email also doesn’t work.
2) Vodafone Connect. This is EDGE. Everything works in this.
Is the TATA one edge or wap/gprs?

well.. I got the sim today basically just for the GPRS. But the Ghatkopar branch doesn’t know about this particular GPRS service!

@abhiskek – i too got the same sim card from the main branch in aurangabad and they didnt have any idea of this GPRS scheme.. very poor management.

So Tata Docomo has joined the bandwagon along with Aircel in providing Unlimited GPRS in the sub Rs.100 rental. I wonder who would be giving better speeds though. Using Aircel since 2 months now. Any ideas on what speeds Docomo is giving? Is it better than Aircel?

This backage ( Rs: 15 & 95 ) is only using for browsing. So, not downloading. You are some amount get to the daily unlimited GPRS downloading system give them.

is this a scam? I waited 2 days more but still the people at tata docomo ghatkopar branch do not have any idea about the announcement.. Also the customer service has no idea AND even the twitter representative at twitter is not responding.

Please ever do not activate SPICE KARNATAK(IDEA NOW) Internet. No Speed. No service. I could not even browse 1kb. Its too bad. Sometimes connects n sometimes dont. U ppl r just wasting your money if u opt this.
Airtel is Excellent. Tata Docomo is good as well. Both have good speeds.

TATA DOCOMO GPRS works fine with nokia handsets and also offers very fast speed, but it is only available in only few parts in India, it is not available in mumbai.

Really making fool of customers as the gprs packs r not available for mumbai maharashtra n goa customers

the gprs /internet on docomo just doesnt work.it was awesome for 2 days but afer that it just doesnt work;i have got all the settings and i have sent the internet msg to 52270 many atimes but i am ot yet able to browse.and the customer care just doesnt do anythn.please avice

I use virgin mobile and here my gprs is free for lifetime without any recharge and for internet on pc i hav to pay rs.2 per 1mb which is quite high nd it gives d speed of 115kbps.

I have used BSNL 2G Connection for GPRS then Reliance Smart then Aircel GPRS. I think Reliance Smart GPRS is Good. now again i want to buy the new sim of BSNl 3G and will test the GPRS Speed hope it will be better than Reliance.

i agree that Aircel GPRS for mobile is unlimited but PC/Net Connectivity speed is very slow,and mobile wap is so so you have to agree on this.

i again would say go for Reliance smart GPRS Very Good Speed beleive me.

according to my personal experience with airtel,aircel and bsnl i suggest you please use bsnl gprs because it is to cool and very fast. I never expected bsnl can provide fast internet in a rs 122 at jharkhand. I am getting avg 12 to 15 kbps normal dawnloading speed with bsnl on mobile so really BSNL BEST HAI MERE LIYE.

Now docomo website says GPRS use is limited to 100 MBs for 30 days. They should increase this to atleast 400 MBs.

What will happen after the consumption of free usage and still left with validity?
After the consumption of the free usage of 20 MB and 100 MB for Rs.15 & Rs.95 pack the default rate of 1p/1kb will be charged.

I have used many gprs service providers like Airtel,aircel,reliance (cdma),reliance smart, tata indicom photon,Idea,vodafone etc.
All are offering internet service at very high rate,and some are (AIRCEL) at approx. 100/month but there speed are not more than 2 kbps.
Just use reliance smart gprs at 303/month for unlimited gprs,speed about 5-15 kbps. (at night it reaches 15-20 kbps).

If any one used bsnl gprs in jharkhand please give me full details like rate and speed).

The Gprs provided by docomo is very good. It goes at average speed. But it is not unlimited. 100MB for 95rs only. Its unfair to show wrong info in the website.

there is no unlimited in docomo if u r using 15 Rs pack u can browse free upto 20 MB and if ur using 95 pack then it is limited to 100 MB

I’ve used reliance smart,aircel,airtel gprs and 122 Jharkhand plan of bsnl,though I live in Bihar.I suggest bsnl cos it is consistent 24 hrs a day.I get 5-8 Kbps.I had a nightmare with aircel,though aircel network was EDGE speed was so terrible that I decided to quit using it.Despite GPRS network in patna I get good speed with bsnl Jharkhand sim.It is particularly good for browsing,however,not so good for downloading.I use nokia 2630 with bt.

Hi!Raj,I see u are having problem with aircel.U said u r using nokia pc suite.Have u got your settings,if not,then send PI to 121 to settings,save the setting and switch off your mobile for a minute or two then restart.I advise using bluetooth for connecting your mobile to PC(I assume u know how to do so,if u don’t please inform me).Now start PC suite,click on connect to internet icon,click on setting before it automatically connects and go to manual setting and just add aircelweb in access point or apn box and connect.This should work.let me know.I have no idea about airtel recent plans,however,I insist u use bsnl’s 122 scheme since u r in Jharkhand.It is way better than lousy aircel.It’s unlimited too.with aircel you get mostly 1-2 kbps while bsnl gives u 5-8kbps 24 hrs-good for browsing and downloads too if u r patient.If aircel doesn’t I will give u another way which is far easier and doesn’t require pc suite.

Hi,Raj.I think u need to tell me what errors u get while trying to establish the connection.Do u know about phone and modem settings in the control panel.This is where you will need to type a command in advanced tab.Before that tell me if u know how to make a dial up connection through windows network connection.If u don’t I will detail the proccess after u reveal the errors,that will make things easier.

Raj,you said the error occurs on your mobile’”subscribe to packet data first”(when you have settings from different providers),If you have subscribed to any plan you can do even without settings,like I use no setting to connect bsnl except the access point in the phone and modem setting.And I remember doing the same with aircel.But It requires you to first erase all the settings and restart your mobile after a while.you paste this command in phone and modm settings/modem/properties/advanced : AT+CGDCONT=1,”IP”,”aircelweb”
And try connecting.If it still doesn’t work you can set an access point in pesonal config in your mobile with access point being aircelweb and activate it, restart mobile after five minutes wait for a few min and dial.

friends !! i have been using idea gprs since 1 year in up west…
It cost 98 rs for 5 days but the speed is super.
On my HTC touch it gives a speed of 20-30 kBps.
And the speed is almost constant and there are no network failure or disconnection…
Enjoy idea but i prices are high i dont why these people dont givee gprs at lower rates..
As 3g will b introduced in all networks, i hope prices for edge n/w will fall to around 200 per month…

I am TATA DOCOMO user. the RS. 15 GPRS plan for 3 days (Access & download limit 20 mb only)and it may not be continue for 3 days. when ur 20mb limit ends plan also get end.

Tata docomo is not giving a unlimited plan its like this : -
Recharge with RS 15.00 you get 20MB free after that they will charge you and offcourse this is for 3 days only(see how much they will charge on their website)
Next comes RS 95.00 that gives you 100MB free and after that any usage they will charge you and this one is for only 30 days.

So as per me Airtel is best they have different plans like (which i have used)
1)RS 35.00 for 1 day (24 hours) true unlimited on extra charge.

2)(NOT UNLIMITED)RS 94.00 for 30 days ,ok now some tech stuff you will get 100MB free Day usage (8:00 AM to 11:59 PM) after that they will charge you 30p/50KB and its for 30days ,Now the interesting part Night usage (12:00 AM to 7:59 AM) you get 2 GigaBytes (GB) Free
usage free for 30 days.

3)Now for my mostly used plan Rs 498.00 its a true unlimited plan for 30 days.its the best.

4)And their are more plans for details call 121 from your airtel pre-paid

Rs.15 Pack with 20 MB free and 3 days Validity : To start using the customer has to first recharge with a special EVD for Rs.15 and then select DOCOMO internet APN through the internet browser on their handset and go into settings and select DOCOMO internet and then can start browsing. To request for internet settings just SMS “INTERNET” to 52270 and save them default settings.

Hi Imran,no offence buddy,but I don’t know how someone can recommend something so ridiculous as rel smart gprs Rs 303.I did it
and since then the only thing I’ve done is curse the moment I did it.I cud use expletives for them but that won’t bring my money back.Pathetic latency,many parts of webpages don’t get loaded as server times out due to high latency,it’s so erratic one night u get 15-20 kbps for 2-3 hrs next two nights u get shit like 1-3 kbps
which is quite useless for the same reason.So many pages blocked,u’ve to use proxies to get through,quite disgusting.
I thought if bsnl 122(i use jharkhand sim in bihar)recharge cud provide 5-8 kbps with incredibly low latency,good enough to listen upto 32 kbps online radio without buffering 24 hrs a day,rel cud do better at 303,but alas I was prooved wrong by these suckers.I say bsnl is best cos speed is 5-8 all the time.ping time is around 847 ms while rel has a ping time of 1300 something,quite awful.

Going through all comments, I find yours is very useful according my perception you are an avid user of gprs( am i right?? ha ha ha).
At present I am using bsnl postpaid gprs(199plan-now increased to 249/-month w.e.f 25.01.2010.(http://www.bsnl.co.in/service/tariff_cellone_option_postpaid.htm).
Earlier i was using airtel( Started from rs.49/month till they started per kb/charge plan.)Then i tried smart303plan(A nightmare,not worth of mentioning).
Bsnl is giving me 3kb-5kb avarage download speed,not at par with airtel but still economical(249/-).If u know any other & better option please inform me.

at first, there s no unlimited plan for DOCOMO.but wen u finish wid ur specified data usage and still have validity then charges r 50p/1mb. til validity lasts.

The service is acceptable. I am currently on the 95rs plan where you get 200mb free during the day and 4gb’s during the night free. the validity is 30 days and i get a speed of around 60kbps.

m only sticking to docomo for the 1p/sec plan and since mine is 1 of the first connections..or else wud have shifted to aircel for their 98 rupees unlimited gprs plan.. tat serves the purpose

they provide only free browsing charges but whenever u download any content u will be charges at normal rate 1ps/kb.
i had activated rs 95 plan but i cant even use it as my normal talktime also get reduce. whenever u ever download any songs u will be charged for the download.
i had contacted the customer care but they said that they provide only free browsing not downloading…
they had done fraudlent activity.

it is better to have Airtel or other service provider as they provide what they says. as downloading means downlaoding…..

if i download in docomo gprs, it will automatically diconnected.. but if i activate the oneday plan rs.5 is working form me unlimited for that day only… the speed is good but not in torrent very poor, its going upto 3 kbps only, if we download any 5 mb or more it will automatically diconecting.. very poor………

I too have the same plan, i saw on the that 200mb free for day and 4gb night free download pack, but unfortunately they charge for every 1p/kb which is not fare so too would like to change the service provider.I also got the same reply from the call center after i queried the same.

It is not unlimited gprs.
It is limited only upto 200 MB a day, and 2 GB at night.
No unlimited pack yet.
I am waiting for it.

And guys, its not that airtel is slow or docomo is slow.
The speed in gprs depends on your mobile phone.
If your mobile has EDGE technology, it will work faster than a normal GPRS phone…

up to my knowledge let me list out plan which i have used lively

PLANS:

Rs.5 —> 10 MB free upto midnight 12 am of that day from you did recharge.

Rs.48 —-> 100 MB free/Per month(morning 7 am to 11 pm)
2 GB free/per month(night 11 pm to morning 7 am)

totally you are getting 2.2 GB/Per month….only….

then, it wont be considered as unlimited plan.. if anything is there i request you let me know….

Docomo is one of the wrost service provider in the india. They are big liers too. My speed : 6-9 kbps. I called customer care but everytime they are making us fool. So my request you all please dont go for docomo. I’m from ahmedabad.

I have been using docomo gprs since the launch.(discontinued occasionally) i think it was Rs 100/ 100 mb free usage initially. The quality of service has improved a lot and the price has come down considerably. It is really cheap and of course a real pleasure using docomo gprs. @48/month it’s really superb.

after launching the tata docomo 3G service; gprs experiencing heavy traffic. before i get 25kb/s, but now only 8kb/s.pls take appropriate action to this problem.

but they are not having any unlimited plan in 3g but there 3g speed is rocking… hope soon they will introduce when airtel comes into market…

Never use “Tata Docomo Dive In” access point to connect to the Internet.

Use “Tata Docomo Internet” access point. To prevent such problems for ever happening, I deleted the “Dive In” access point from my mobile the day I used the internet recharge.

Settings can be delivered to your mobile by messaging the word “INTERNET” to 52270.

If the above does not work call customer care.

Comment if this works.

You should change your web settings you should go to settings then to configuration then change your settings from dive-in to internet and then you use opera browser then your problem will be solved

I was charged 125 rs a day for using GPRS services even after activating Rs.5 plan on Tata Docomo…

I called the customer care and he told me sir free internet only provides free download but surfing and browsing is chargeble 1 paisa 1 kb & I was charged 125 rs for surfing & browsing..

I am agree with the above post, but disagree with the word “UNLIMITED” friends no vendor provide u a unlimited plan. If u recharge with 95/- plan u will get 4 GB data for 30 days. So, take care of unlimited uses.

Meanwhile, would also like to say that billing problem with TATA DOCOMO is not a new problem, customer care will give their own reason for deductions, not only CC the nodal officer will also repeat the same words as u hear from CC. I have been punished several time by them by the way of deductions.

Tata Docomo has been given good services in GPRS but they are going on reliance way. They deducted balance as they like without intimating customers for the services.
