iPhone 3GS India Launch Delayed not coming on August 9th

Sorry iPhone fans. Looks like iPhone 3GS will not be coming to India on Aug 9th. I visited a iStore in the city and from what they told me August 9th seems impossible and 3rd week of August looks more probable .

Looks like there has been some confusion amongst blogs and the media about the August 9th launch date.In the Apple Keynote way back in June,this slide shown below says iPhone 3GS coming to india in Aug ‘09 which means Aug 2009 and not August 9th. Apple India were not reachable for an explanation !

Its just insane when almost the rest of the world has got the iPhone 3GS and India being the 2nd largest market in the world for mobile handsets is still waiting !

    Hi Apple fans in India, this is what i was talking about.
    Apple is working on the iphone 4g.so hopefully we can expect a new phone around june/july 2010.
    Also hopefully iphone 3gs would be available then in india.

    This is so Goddamn frustrating…GTH Apple-india.
    Does any body have Steve Jobs email.Somebody can mail him and let him know our frustration on this issue.

    Tired of all the waiting I finally purchased without bill and warranty. It is a brand new and already jail breaked and carrier patched. 16GB.

    1. Using iTunes happily – just not updating the same. You know what I mean.
    2. Bluetooth works perfect.
    3. Web browsing in Safari is awesome.
    4. Google Maps is great.
    5. Installed tons of apps from App Store – works fine.
    6. Added few GBs of songs in iTunes.
    7. WiFi is just amazing – shows how good the phone is.

    In short – yes – expensive – but – worth every penny. I am just loving it.

    You Indian dudes are all rationalizing illegal behavior. Apple believes and I think they can prove it that any unlocking of those iphones that are clearly locked to a particular carrier in a particular country is per se illegal and a violation of copyright law. Their position is that is a violation of the DMCA (a recent update to US Copyright law). And, the Indian Copyright Act of 1957 is pretty strict and Apple could make its case that most of you who have purchased such phones knew what you were buying were illegal as they were unlocked in violation of Indian law. The Indian Copyright Act of 1957 like the DMCA carries criminal provision.s

      BS, I agree with your part that unlocking is illegal, but tell me why do we take all the pains and money to unlock it. its just because the iphone 3gs is not available here in India. I and all the people above me, here were waiting for the official launch since july.all we have got is hope! and nothing else.

      Apple is selling phones in China were nobody is buying the iphone.and has huge stock of the the phone.
      but they will keep dead stock and not sell it anywhere.

      Apple is planning to launch 4 generation iphone soon, but the iphone is yet to reach here in India.
      Does Mr Job’s still consider us the so called ‘Third World’(No pun intended).
      hopefully we would have 3gs soon here.Keeping our finger cross.

      Sorry, i couldn’t help … but u had that coming!

      If i Jailbreak an iPhone, there is jackshit you(or apple) can do about it.
      If i unlock my iPhone, there is jackshit you(or apple) can do about it – except void my warranty.

      Am an IP Lawyer and i can assure you, Apple is still trying to take its case with the FCC for the Jailbreaking thing (and they are having no luck there). Around the world, there is nothing they can do about it.

    iphone launch date shifted to March 2nd 2010 …. wtf … is steve jobs out of his mind, why dont the politicians take up this issue man, they kind of considering us as some thirdworld countries .. there are more gizmo crazy ppl in india than anywhere else, but still we dont get the gadgets …. its frustrating …. feel like buyin an iphone and crushing it under my feet in front of steve jobs for treating us like this … to hell with his technology, if it cant reach the right ppl …. insane.!!!

      @Saif- From where did you get the news of this cathistropic event :(
      Any price points mentioned.
      Its better to wait for a year and buy the iphone 4g in 2011, rather than buying the 3GS now.
      I will buy the ipod touch next month… enough of wait for the iphone launch :(

    two weeks bak i got factory unlockd iphone 3gs 32gb from alfa, for Rs.45,500

    it works awesome nd its real, i connected it to itunes nd it got activated over the internet, no trouble at all, its from Taiwan,

    i hope tht helps to any1 who wants to buy factory unlockd 3gs in Mumbai,

      I am very satisfied with the iphone 3gs bought from national Electro world. It working fine. To test the Genuinity of the phone I downloaded firmware 3.1.2 from apple site and restored it. After connecting it to itunes it got unlocked automatically. overall satsfied

    Its crazy man beacause of these Junk Apple guys who hav no plans to lauch 3GS in India that these vendors are asking for any price and then also just providing the dealer warranty only.

    I am considering buying HTC Hero & will not wait long for the apple 3gs India Launch. recommede u 2……

    got my 3gs 32 gb from hongkong last week and I m absolutely loving it.
    This thing is really fast and I Haddly need to go to my laptop for anything these days.

    Thx raj.I went to ALFA-2 irla today.The guy is selling an iPhone 3gs 16gb factory unlocked with a branded pouch for 38000.Is it good?
    An amazing thing is nokia’s iPhone killer N900 is just for 30500.
    Maemo is a strategy.I am confused between them cause I am a fan of linux and on the hand people are telling me iphone got a special touch tht no other mobile has.

      hi umesh….thats a decent price…..hope you checked the forum…dont get fooled into buying a software unlocked one….N900 has the same hardware specs as 3GS but i am not sure of the apps u get along as its an upcoming platform…not many developers on it yet. decide wat you need….iphone is amazing….good luck

    Finally, its confirmed that 3GS is coming to India. Apple India website is now saying COMING SOON for iPhone 3GS which was earlier INTRODUCING iPhone 3GS. So, cheers guys… it is coming… just some more wait..
