Remember the Webtop by Motorola with the Atrix 4G we had seen at CES last year? Did anyone actually buy it? Well, I have no idea, but apparently it was a fail device from Motorola and they are killing it.
Webtop allowed you to connect your smartphone to a laptop dock which would enable to use laptop functions with the power of your smartphone, hence increasing the battery, getting your important work done which requires more power and also being able to do all your phone functions from an interface in the laptop.
The place where Motorola went wrong was making people understand why actually to use it and also it was ridiculously priced. One other place where it fell short is that it did not have many functions. When compared to the ASUS Padfone, Motoroola’s Webtop concept was nowhere, ASUS were really great in implementing their idea and also more effective where you can use your phone as a tablet and also if you want as a laptop. Now that adds more functions, easy to understand and use. Motorola should have come out with something like that.
Anyways it is good to know that Motorola is cutting off the fat and we hope that with Google running everything we hope to see some great products out of the company.
