Google Maps web app for iOS to get Street View support

Walt Mossberg reported on the Wall Street Journal that Google will soon rolling out Street View to users of the iOS Google Maps web app. With iOS 6, Apple replaced the integrated Google Maps based solution with their homegrown offering which pales in comparison.

While a proper Google Maps application is not expected in the short term, users can head over to maps.google.com in Safari and then pin it as a web app on the start screen. Within the same web app, it is now possible to view Street View imagery. Tap on a location within the map and a bottom bar emerges with an icon indicating Street View support clicking which opens a new tab.
