Nokia E61i Review

Nokia E61i is an enterprise phone loaded with features. It gives Blackberry handsets some serious competition.

Update : Nokia E71 is out and chk out the review

The handset fits snuggly in the hand (at least for me)

The design is impressive and has luxury touch added to it due to the metallic finish similar to the 8800

The phone is an upgraded version of the E61 which lacked a Camera and had a primitive browser. But the built of the E61i is much better than the E61. The keypad has undergone a transformation for the better.

Highlights

  • Plenty of Connectivity options – 3G, Bluetooth, Wi-Fi,Infrared, USB
  • Great battery life
  • Decent 2 Megapixel camera
  • Compact QWERTY keyboard
  • microSD expansion
  • Great metallic body
  • Large 2.8 inch screen
  • Service Light

Letdowns

  • Memory Card not hot-swappable
  • Slightly heavy
  • No Secondary Camera despite 3G
  • Bluetooth is only version 1.2 (no stereo bluetooth)
  • Only USB Headset – could have been a 2.5mm or 3.5mm slot

Alternatives

There are not many phones in the price range of the e61i with similar features.

the E70 and e65 come close Sony Ericsson P1i is better than E61i but much more expensive.

Conclusion

If you are looking for a Communicator style smart phone with hell a lot of options at a affordable price go for this one. Camera is not the best. Battery backup is promising. Very Good blackberry alternative.

Price

The Nokia E61i retails at about Rs.17800 in Chennai with warranty
