Its really a nice phone. I was planning to buy a new phone but now I guess I’ll have to wait for this one to launch. It’ll be available in the Indian market from September’09 for 13000-14000 INR.

And its better than 5800. 5800 hangs a lot and 5530 has a better processor than the 5800.

Why Nokia 5530 don’t have 3G?

ya samsung S5233 is good too but i prefer Nokia 5530 mainly for it’s good S60 v5 OS9.4,good multitasking feature,it’s XM, display is far better(640 by 360 + 16M colours in just 2.5inches screen), has wi-fi, ships with a 4GB card, 3.5mm audio jack, high speed processor, handles Office files + PDF…and hopefully more stylish..

i was considering of getting LG KP500 but i found out about this phone so i’ve been waiting for this phone for about 2months now for the same reasons as mentioned above nokia is still better than KP500 at that price at least for me..

In which month this Phone will be available in gujarat and what will be price tag?

OK, I’m sorry if I was a bit harsh in my previous post. I actually have lots of Indian friends who are intelligent, educated and speak very well, so I have nothing against Indians as a community.

I just tend to get a bit irritated when I go to messageboards, looking for useful information (in this case about a cellphone) and all I get is a bunch of posts which could have been written by a 5 or 6-year-old. Someone actually posted this: “what this is?phone or calculator.it very costly .i have 1100 it very good”. I mean, come on! LMAO!

Now back to the phone: I am seriously considering this phone for my son as I feel he does not need a 5800 (he definitely does not require 3G services) and he does not currently own an iPod so this would seem like a good investment.

@Dave. There are LOADS of literal people in India. Most of us do know english pretty well… And the phone has been launched in different places across the globe. It has not been launched in India as yet though. Expected to be out in a week or two, I’d say.

I recently got java phone 6303 classic … but after using N72, symbian phone… I m really not happy with java phone… coz what I was addicted to in N72 was its multi-tasking functionality…. actually I was using the functions of a symbian phone to a great extend…n that is not there in java phone.. n moreover the sound is just toooo low in 6303 that I dnt get to know if ny call is coming on my phone.. it bug me up all the time.. so I am planning to change my phone… so can anybody suggest me for good phone in the range of 12k-14k….where I can have good camera… good sound… multi-taksing… phone… do this 5530 XpressMusic have all this.. can I go for it… when can I check this phone out in the market…

But this phone does not have a front camera for video calling like the
5800 xpress music but 5730 does not have touch but has a qwerty layout
and a front camera wifi bluetooth and symbian 60 6th generation and has 8gb memory card with it

Firstly the nokia 58oo tube was never an outright success. Priced atrociously high with nothing much to write about. The feature everyone was looking forward to comes with music did not quite take off. So it seems nokia wants to capture the market with a stripped down version of 5800. With Samsung and LG handsts being lapped up in the market nokia ideally could not have been far behind. The finnish manufacturer has the propensity to take the fight to any end to capture key market segment.
So yes waiting for 5530 as it has the right mix of features & price. As long as it does’nt overshoot 15k its should be a good buy.

I am seriously confused here.
There are 2 models coming from Nokia 5530 and 5230 and i see
the following difference that is so confusing as to why.

5530: ~Rs. 14K
No GPS
No 3G
Video recording is only at QCIF strangely at 15fps
Smaller screen size and so no nHD.

on the other hand,

5230: ~Rs. 10-11K
Has Integrated A-GPS
Has HSDPA, cat. 6, maximum speed 3.6 Mbps (DL) – 3.5G ????
Video recording is at VGA and 30fps
Screen size is 3.2″ with 16:9 nHD

Can someone explain how can this be happening.

Meanwhile, while doing a compare in nokia site for the above two

Its shows, both have HSDPA and both have video recording at VGA 30fps resolution.

Now Nokia is picturing different specs which is inconsistant.

Please share your thoughts.

concern since the camera is a 3.2MP as compared to 2MP of 5230 which has VGA video recording.

I got this phone (Black with Red trim) from the U.K. a week back as its still unavailable in India. Should be launched pretty soon though. Its available in UK for about 140-150 pounds which is about 11.5k-12k INR. Considering the fact that prices of Nokia phones are always higher in India compared to most of the foreign countries, it shouldn’t be less than 13k-14k INR.

Have a look at gsmarena.com, look for 5530 specs. They say that video recording is at 30fps (Verified). I was not able to beleive why it is 15fps having 3.2 MP camera.

I checked with a Nokia Priority Dealer in Delhi. Phone will be available in last week of Septermber. It will cost around 11k, which makes sense becuase 5800 is available in the same shop at Rs 13,300/-, and I am sure 5530 should cost less (becuase of less feature no 3G and no GPS).

No dear, it would not cost around 11k…. yeah Nokia 5800 is now 13.3k..but Nokia 5530 in Delhi will cost 14k till october & price may decrease to 11k in December

Also if this is so one can go for N5800 XM(advantages: 8GB MC,Carl Zeiss Optics,3.2″ screen (updated firmware includes kinetics scrolling)) as it is costing 13.5K in Planet M Vasant Kunj-Dlf Mall, though nokia 5530 has advantages (Slim, Very Cool Looks, Better Headphones, Kinetic Scrolling (till now), better tactile feedback, Stereo Speakers (Louder than 5800)),so if the wait becomes very long one can opt for 5800 as the price will b very close. I brought a 5800 XpressMusic for 13.3 K @ Bhubaneshwar. This is a iPod killer, has 3G and GPS.

I use Pre-Paid BSNL 2G card which catches 3G signal and surfs at 3.5G (as mentioned in the phone signal bar). Download speed is amazing. The phone is real good.

Go for it… you will not be disappointed. 3.2 M Camera and 8 GB Micro SD card bundeled.!

I dont think 5530 still out in India because no one apart from the tech savvy and very few others know that such a phone exists … One moron shopkeeper says that this phone does not exist and is china made model and he had a very cheep copy of the same but insists that there is no original … Even the Nokia Priority Dealers have no idea … I’ve spent almost 2 months searching this phone in Mumbai but alas !! no success … I hope its launched soon and at a ~10k price or else I wont have to think even once before buying 5800

Its a fact that nokia 5800 is now available for 13k which makes the purchase for N5530 a little weird. COnsidering everything N5800 has everything then why go for sumthing smaller and cheaper. Another issue which I need to see it to believe it is video recording for 5530 is being mentioned as VGA.

I don’t understand why Nokia Priority dealers and Nokia concept stores sales guys pretend as if there no phone like Nokia 5530.
I checked with several stores in 2 different cities and these guys don’t have any clue about this phone.

Nokia call center is of no use they read out from the script saying that I need to check with local dealers.

Nokia 5800 available for less than Rs.13,500/-. But Nokia 5530 with less features when compared to 5800 costs Rs.14029/-.

Did Nokia ever think that people are not so ignorant to buy this phone with high costs? It failed to release this phone on time and still Nokia does not have any clear idea about its availability date for its Indian customers.

Definitely there should be a serious issue for Nokia not releasing its 5530 phone in India. It is either to clear of its 5800 stock or Nokia 5530 has some major bugs which Nokia engineers are not able to fix it. Phones that were introduced after the introduction of 5530 are available in the market.
This clearly shows that there is something messy with Nokia 5530 release.
Whatever may be the reason definitely it is not going to do any good for Nokia.

I was also waiting for this 5530. First they told that it would be available by x-mas but unfortunately not. Now it seems they are not going to launch this in near future. I coud not wait more. I purchased N86.

I too was waiting 4 this phone since august.i waited till diwali and that was enough.i then bouht a samsung star wi-fi.

I am stilling waiting, because of the love for Nokia brand. But I am really getting frustrated. I am just waiting because Nokia officials have assured me that this phone will be available by 2nd week of Jan 2010.

even i am stilling waiting for this phone bcoz i like it a lot. had enquired with nokia priorty dealer in 1st week of jan 2010, he showed me dummy handset and told me that it will be launched in a weeks time.

later after a week i again called them and now he says, it will launched by the end of this month i.e. jan.

only god knows when it will be launched. But I am really getting frustrated now. will wait for this month only and if its not launched will go in for another handset…

In india it would be launced at 14,000 INR

I bought it for 100 GBP that would be around 8000 INR

mainne 5530 dubai se liya hai. at very low cost. only 8500.

Nokia 5530 is the better and Nokia officials says its MRP is Rs.14029/-. It should be lesser than the MRP. But no one knows when this phone be officially available in India.

I just got a call from one of the Nokia distributor that Nokia 5530 is launched in Bangalore today. He said it will cost around Rs.13,000/-.

i have bought a nokia 5530 xpressmusic from germany and it cost me only Rs.8000/- and today i saw the same mobile in internet for Rs.17000/-,when we compare to germany and india.germany has the best selling price for nokia 5530 xpress music.

It is available in Brigade road Nokia Concept stores and in few of the Nokia Priority stores. I bought it from the Concept stores on Sunday. It is really awesome except its battery life.

As per the information that I got from the Nokia official and its distributor it is only available in Nokia Priority Stores and Nokia Concept stores. I was also told that it will take time to release this phone in other mobile stores.

I paid Rs.12,200/- I had inquired in other stores they said it will cost less than 12000 but no one knew when will it be available in non-nokia stores. Nokia concept store manager said it will never be available in other stores in near feature.

Nokia 5530 is really good looking when compared to 5800. When it comes to features then 5800 has 3G and GPS(both are joke in India). 5530 Wifi is really good and I had no issues in using it.

I have no idea about the launch date in Delhi. I would recommend you to check with Nokia concept stores or Nokia Priority stores.

I had been after this phone for more than 6 months and I had contacted everyone possible in Nokia including its CEO. So, when I was informed about its availability I didn’t bother to mind its cost, even though I knew it is available for less outside India and its cost will come down in another few weeks or months.

I have been using this phone for past 20 days and I had installed many applications and uninstalled many. Used with Wi-Fi connection and blu-tooth. My verdict is this phone is a really good and there is no software issues like freezing or restart. Battery gets drained quickly if wi-fi or blu-tooth is used.

It is completely blank if used directly under sun. So, you are a person who spends most of your time out doors then better go for a keypad phone.

It is worth buying it if 3G is not considered. I believe 3G is a joke in India with only BSNL providing it as of now. For me Wi-fi is a better choice.

I strongly recommend this phone if anyone is looking for its looks, sleek design and its features.

This phone is only available in Nokia Concept stores and Nokia Priority Stores.

Hi this phone not yet come in munbai, i want to buy but wht to do…. Can u help me out for the same.

go for white wid blue, black and red is very common.

The phone keeps freezing and my memory card corrupted after not even what i can call 5 months! it feels kind of plasticy in your hands and when sending a message the font will appear smaller to the reciever due to the difference in screen size. The phone does not have adobe flash reader or a wireless navigation system. The camera and video camera are just at a standard expected level.

But the headphones are a plus! The radio reception is pretty good in most places and volume can go to a good standard.
Its your choice…IF your looking to buy this phne!

id definatley go for the samsung corby … but i dont have one…my opinion is based on the fact that my nokia 5530 is REALLY starting to annoy me.
