As part of its ongoing efforts to increase sales and combat dropping revenues , HTC plans to stop bundling in Beats headphones with their a majority of their handsets. According to HTC , users were not buying the phones specifically for the Beats headphones and that resulted in unnecessarily increasing handset prices compared to competitors.
Beats as branding will however remain. The software based enhancement component will remain a part of the HTC Sense software package. Moreover , HTC plans to transition the Beats branding to a streaming music service which will make HTC competitive in the media ecosystem.
