Download Google Android OS 1.5 Cupcake Now ! Tested and Working !

Some great news from Android users and especially G1 users .. You can now manually update your G1 with the latest firmware update and get a whole bunch of new features on your existing google phone

See the wonderful onscreen keyboard inside the browser .. love to use the phone without opening the slide-out keypad

We tested the update on our g1 and it worked fine .. we were surprised to see the new UI

Other new android cupcake 1.5 features include

  • On-screen soft keyboard
  • Video recording or camcorder
  • Copy paste in browser – and updated to latest webkit engine
  • Upload to Youtube
  • Picasa Uploads
  • Google talk

Warning :-

You might loose all the data on your phone .

Although we have tested the update to be working , we do not encourage  your to update unless you know what are you doing !

This is the USA version of software meant for US T-mobile users only . Works with unlocked phones also

    yes put the zip file as update.zip in the card

    reboot phones using home+end

    press alt+l to change to log mode

    press alt+s to start update

    you will loose all data , so try it at your own risk !

    I’m definitely going to try this when I get home. Questions:

    Once updated, which “data” is actually deleted? Apps? Or does this include contacts? I’m assuming just apps since contacts are synced to gmail…

    i think just apps

    but you have to activate your phone again , in case you use different account , your contacts are gone in the wind !

    Installation aborted…

    E:Can’t open /sdcard/update.zip (No such file or directory)

    On my PC, I can see file… but phone not able to see…??
    Am I supposed to ‘unzip’ before loading on chip?
    Am I supposed to put in /sdcard directory or root?

    I have tries all above and still not able to read update file from phone…. Please help!!

    Welcome to the club

    I had the same issue.

    I think your update.zip file is corrupted

    Can you try downloading the update from the link again .

    It should work.

    You can extract the zip file on your computer and check if its corrupted or not

    you need not extract the zip and put on phone.

    you need to put the update.zip in the top-most folder of your memory card.

    i had that problem rename the file using linda file manager found in the market rename the file update.zip or just email me and i
    ‘ll send you the already renamed file….. its great but has some minor issues

    It was down for a while .

    It was problem with Google’s server

    MY phone is unlocked and I’m using it with another carrier different from T-Mobile, if I update to the 1.5 Cupcake Will I lose the Unlock??

    how the hell do I download the cupcake update my G1? its freaking September now and I dont know how to get it.. isnt there just a site I can go to on my handheld with a link to download it? HELP
