Nokia announces Car Mode app for in-car entertainment

Nokia just announced via its blog a brand new Qt based application which will make use of MirrorLink technology. The car mode application will be available to all Symbian Belle smartphones alongside the Nokia N9. The application will make it easier for users to access phone functions while driving.

The application will let you control your smartphone without touching it by mirroring the contents on the car head unit. Floris van de Klashorst, Director of Automotive Services in Nokia’s Location & Commerce business says that “Users have maps, music and plenty of other features on their phones; MirrorLink unlocks them for when they’re in their cars.” While the technology will presumably require use of car head units which support MirrorLink , it will definitely go a long way in improving road safety.
