Three UK announces new HSPA+ MiFi

Three UK today announced a new version of the popular MiFi portable wireless router series.

The rebadged Huawei E586 will offer a significant speed improvement over the current MiFi, including HSPA+ support with speeds up to 21.1Mbps HSDPA and 5.76Mbps HSUPA, and will go on sale in September. Like the current MiFi, the E586 will feature a OLED screen which will display network statuses, signal strength, device connections and data consumption. It will also contain a microSDHC card slot, allowing users to use the MiFi as a USB storage. A new cradle charger will also be made available.

The Huawei E586, like the E585 before that, will allow multiple devices including games consoles, laptops and tablets to simultaneously connect and share a single mobile broadband connection, securely.

Three UK is currently in the process of deploying HSPA+ upgrade on its network and aims to cover 80% of the country by the end of the year.
