3 Free Chat Applications for Nokia 5800

Though there are a lot of mobile applications for chat, only few currently support Nokia 5800. Therefore I thought, why not make a list of applications which supports Nokia 5800 and also supports multi IM networks.

Here is a list of 3 such applications which has 5800 support and also caters to all the prominent IM Networks like GTalk, Skype, Yahoo, MSN etc.

1. Fring: One of the most popular chat application available on the internet. It supports Skype, MSN, GTalk, ICQ, SIP, Twitter, Yahoo! and AIM Networks. You can make free VoIP Calls using Skype and GTalk over GPRS/EDGE, 3G or WiFi Network. And you can also call landlines and regular cellular contacts using SkypeOut or SIP very cheaply.

Fring also has Call History, File Sharing, Call and Message Tone preferences and Auto roam in and out of WiFi hotspots. And with the Last.fm integration recently, you can now listen to your library, tag favourites, ban disliked tracks and also view what your friends are currently listening to, in real-time.

2. Talkonaut: This application supports Google Talk, ICQ, MSN, AIM, Jabber and Yahoo IM Networks. Like Fring, Talkonaut also allows you to make free VoIP over GPRS/EDGE, 3G or WiFi Network. Talkonaut also features Group chat, Status Messages, Chat history, Avatars, File sharing and SIP support.

At the time of writing this, Nimbuzz wasn’t released as yet. Therefore I could include it in the list. However you can check out Nimbuzz review here http://www.fonearena.com/blog/2009/05/08/download-nimbuzz-for-nokia-5800.html

Is there a chat program that allows “video chat” for the Nokia 5800 Xpressmusic?

  • Ted

    I second that question…
We need a Video Chat program that supports popular clients such as skype and others. Free or not, at this point price is irrelevant.
This phone could be more useful if the right software was made for it.
There is mostly junk for this phone out there.
Video Chat Software for 5800, anyone???

  • No Value forum….
Great questions and no answers.. keep it up!
