eBay India goes Mobile

eCommerce has been the biggest success in India, where majority of Indian companies have tapped the immense potential it had. eCommerce has completely changed the market arena, by enabling people to access the services provided by various companies, in almost any field. It has become the in-thing, where every company had to adopt it, for their growth and survival.

eBay India, one of India’s largest eCommerce marketplaces, is planning to shift gears to move into mCommerce, by launching their new eBay India mobile website m.ebay.in , which will provide Indian online shoppers an opportunity to access eBay through their mobile phones. The application is designed for all GPRS, EDGE and 3G enabled mobile phones and other smartphones, to provide an end to end transaction platform for consumers to find, buy and pay for products online. mCommerce will now provide Indian online shoppers an opportunity to access eBay anytime, anywhere, bringing even more convenience for shopping in India.

eBay India Mobile offers consumers a large store in their pocket, where shoppers can search & select their choice from over 400,000 great deals on products in technology, lifestyle, collectible & media categories. The company has also launched an SMS-based search service that will allow users to search and locate the cheapest listings of any particular product on eBay India website through SMS. Users will need to type in ‘EBAY’ followed by the product name and send an SMS to 567678. The company will then reply with two cheapest listings of that particular product along with the item codes.

We would loved to see apps for iPhone, Symbian and Blackberry from eBay instead of a mobile website.
