Opera Software has released the final build of the Opera mobile 10.1 Browser for Symbian / S60 smartphones. The app was available earlier as a Beta. The final version packs improved javascript performance and also introduces Geo-location for the first time in the mobile browser from the Norwegian company. The company said that Opera Mobile 10.1 is 9 times faster than Opera Mobile 10.0 due to the optimization of the Javascript engine.

Geo-location enables web applications to provide localized content depending on your current GPS co-ordinates.

“Powerful smartphones deserve an equally powerful browser,” said Lars Boilesen, CEO, Opera Software. “Opera Mobile 10.1 today brings the best mobile browsing experience to the world’s most popular smartphone platform.”

It’s nice to see Opera continue support for Symbian when most other app developers are neglecting the platform. Grab Opera Mobile 10.1 for your Symbian phone and let us know your feedback.

Other features which you might have already heard of or used

• Speed Dial, tabbed browsing, Opera Link and password manager – reduce the time and typing required to navigate your favorite websites.
• Opera Turbo compression. Opera servers shrink webpages to as little as 20 percent of their original size, reducing your data costs and turbo-charging your browsing speed.
• Opera Mobile fine-tunes the look and feel of your browsing with kinetic scrolling, a virtual keyboard and auto-rotation to landscape.

You can grab the app for free from  m.opera.com for Symbian^3, and Symbian S60 3rd and 5th edition phones.

Hats off to Opera for sticking around with Symbian and continuously developing (and improving) opera mini & opera mobile. With opera mini being developed with deep integration with symbian I believe opera mobile will have less users ;)
