Apple finally acknowledges ‘sticky keyboard’ issues on MacBooks, to offer free fix and refunds for past repairs

Apple today has introduced a new MacBook & MacBook Pro service program that will cover a small percentage of users who might be facing ticky, repeated characters or unresponsive keys. The program says that the process “may involve the replacement of one or more keys or the whole keyboard.

Apple or an Apple Authorized Service Provider will service eligible MacBook and MacBook Pro keyboards, free of charge. However, the type of the service will be determined after the keyboard is examined and may involve the replacement of one or more keys or the whole keyboard. As for those who have already experienced the problem and had to pay for services through Apple, the company will be refunding customers the cost of the repair. The program will cover eligible MacBook and MacBook Pros for 4 years from the date of purchase.

The service turn-around time may vary depending upon the type of service and availability of replacement parts. A list of specific models eligible for the program is below:
