Following the launch of Camon i, Camon i Air and Camon i Sky, China-based Transsion Holdings’ TECNO Mobile launched Camon i Click, a mid-range selfie-focused smartphone in the Indian market. Coming in Midnight Black and Champagne Gold colors, the device is priced at Rs. 13,999 and is available across 35,000 retail outlets in the country. In addition, the device also comes with 100 days of replacement warranty and one-time screen replacement. So does it lives up to the expectations? Let’s check it out.
Display, Design, and Hardware
The Tecno Camon i Click sports a 6-inch HD+ 18:9 FullView display with 83.9% of screen-to-body ratio. The display is bright enough, offers good viewing angles, texts look sharp and decent sunlight legibility.
Just like its predecessor, the Tecno Camon i Click comes with a unibody design and there is nothing to go awe about it. In fact, the rear side of the device looks similar to OnePlus 5. Having said that, we have seen lots of mobile phones in this design previously. It measures 158.6×75.8×7.8mm and weighs 158 grams.
Talking about the placement, this smartphone has a 20MP front-facing camera with LED flash, f/1.8 aperture, earpiece, and a bunch of sensors on top of the display. With this smartphone, the company has opted for on-screen navigation instead of capacitive buttons.
Moving right, we have a volume rocker, power button and dedicated slots. The bottom of the device is busy with a speaker grille, Micro USB port, primary microphone and a 3.5mm audio jack. Turning back we have a 20MP front-facing camera with f/2.0 aperture, dual LED flash and a fingerprint scanner beneath it.
The phone comes with a single SIM tray on the right side that has slots for two nano SIMs and a microSD that accepts cards up to 128GB
The Tecno Camon i Click comes equipped with a 16MP rear camera with quad-LED flash, f/1.8 aperture and a 20MP front-facing camera with f/2.0 aperture, dual LED flash. Talking about the real-time usage, the photos under daylight conditions comes out good, the focus is quick to lock as well. When it comes to low-light, the quality of the picture drastically reduces with huge amount of grains on it. However, the flash at low light compliments the subject without overpowering it. The front camera is decent enough for selfies and video calls as well.

Software and storage
The Tecno Camon i Click is shipped with HiOS based on Android 8.1 (Oreo) out of the box with Android security patch for April 2018. It has treble support, but it doesn’t have support for seamless updates. It comes with pre-installed with native apps and usual Google utility apps as well. From the lock screen, you can just access the camera app.
The device comes with an Outdoor option, when enabled, increases the brightness level for 15 minutes and turn off the screen after 15 minutes keeping the Outdoor Mode on. In addition, it comes with Eye Care option, which applies yellow tint on the screen, which in turn helps you in avoiding eye strains.
This smartphone comes with an option called “Micro Intelligence”, where you get various options including double-click to broadcast, Music gesture, Flip Mute, Take a screenshot with 3 fingers and cover silence. In order to enable the above options, users need to turn on the toggle. The Tecno Camon i Click comes with 64GB internal storage, which can be expandable up to 128GB with microSD. Out of 64GB, we got around 52GB free for usage.
Fingerprint and Face unlock
The Tecno Camon i Click has a fingerprint scanner embedded in the rear side of the device. You can add up to 5 different fingerprints on the device. It is quick to unlock the phone when the finger is placed. Apart from fingerprint scanner, users can unlock the device with Face unlock feature as well.
It supports a range of connectivity options including Dual 4G VoLTE for Reliance Jio as well as Airtel so that you can use 4G and VoLTE on both the SIMs and switch between them easily. It also has WiFi 802.11 a/b/g/n (2.4GHz + 5GHz), Bluetooth 4.2 and GPS. There is also USB OTG support. It also comes with a native dialer with an option to message and hide the dialer on the same page. You also get FM radio as well. The call quality is good on both earpiece and loudspeaker as well.
The Tecno Camon i Click is powered by 2GHz Octa-Core MediaTek Helio P23 16nm processor with ARM Mali G71 MP2 GPU under the hood. In our casual usage, we didn’t find any lag or hang. The multi-tasking was good too, thanks to 4GB RAM. Surprisingly, the graphics demanding games including Asphalt 8 and Riptide GP 2 ran smoothly without any frame drops. Check out some synthetic benchmarks scores below.
The Tecno Camon i Click is powered by a huge 3750mAh battery under the hood. It doesn’t come with any of the fast charging technology though. Even with the heavy usage, the battery took us throughout a day with the remaining charge of about 20% at the end. However, if you are a casual user, we are confident that you can travel for a day and a half without any worries or carry power banks.
Priced at Rs. 13,999, the Tecno Camon i Click is a decent smartphone in the market right now. It doesn’t have any wow or nah factor either. Implementing a single camera setup at this point of time and only HD screen makes this device a least recommendable one at this prices point. Keeping those things aside, the phone has a decent build, offers good performance, features Dual 4G VoLTE support and provides all-day battery life. To summarize, here are the pros and cons of the smartphone.
- Light-weight body
- Good Battery life
- Good Performance
- Dual 4G VoLTE, Dedicated SIM and MicroSD slots
- Only HD+ display
- Average camera
- No fast charging
