Instagram is now rolling out an update that brings option to mute posts, giving you more control over what posts you see on your news feed. This will hide posts from specific accounts when you mute them instead of unfollowing.
When you mute someone on Instagram you can still see posts on their profile page and get notified of comments or posts you’re tagged. The accounts you mute won’t be notified that you’ve muted them. To mute an account, tap the menu button in the corner of the post and from there, you can choose whether to mute posts or mute posts and stories from an account. You can mute the posts and stories by pressing and holding a story or from the profile.
After collecting the feedback regarding the newsfeed, Instagram has also updated its Help Center to give you a better sense of how it’s ordered. To remind you, Instagram introduced changes to improve news feed browsing experience to make it fresher and this new Help Center update falls in the same line. Instagram Mute will be rolling out over the coming weeks with no specific time frame.
