Snapchat to soon let users share public Stories on the web

snapchat_stories_webThere were reports in December which claimed that Snapchat will soon let users share Stories outside the web through a new web player. Today the company has confirmed that the new share options will be available to users along with a new redesigned Snapchat app interface.

Users will have the ability to share the stories to their linked social media accounts, through text or email with a link to a webpage allowing the people who don’t have Snapchat account view the photo or video story update. The company will add a new share option to Story tiles in its Discover section from where users can share the update anywhere.

For the people who aren’t into Snapchat to view the update, the company is also launching a desktop web viewer accessible over at Snapchat.com. The new share option will work for three varieties of public Stories which include its Official Stories, Our Stories, and Search Stories. Official stories are from the Snpachat verified accounts like media, sports, and entertainment organizations, etc.

While stories usually last for 24 hours, Stories on the web are available for up to 30 days, not just 24 hours, Official Stories are available for only 24 hours, and search stories will also last 30 days on the web. Snapchat with the new launch is aiming to increase its users base which has seen no huge development since the past few months.

Snapchat users in Australia and Canada currently have access to the redesigned app, allowing them to use the share option. The update with the new redesigned app and share option will be rolling in the next few weeks for more audience.
