Facebook to redesign Messenger with real time communication, customer care channels and more

Facebook Messenger

Facebook started asking people to install Messenger app a few years back and the company kept on pushing it with features to a level that made the app clumsy and cluttered. In its goals for 2018, the company’s David Marcus, head of the messenger highlighted the changes that are coming to messenger this year.

As for the things that might change or make an appearance in 2018, MARCUS said that group chats will be the priority and with abilities like group calling, send images in 4K resolution, share photos, etc. messenger will get the abilities to add people to groups without needing their phone number because groups are all about people but not having phone numbers.

He also stressed that real-time communication will play a bigger role this year and you can easily stay connected with friends and family no matter where you are. Real-time communication can also play a major role at the time of crisis too. Visual messaging will be the next big thing with super fast and intuitive camera, video, images, GIFs, and stickers with almost every conversation. Furthermore, the company is introducing a new true Customer Care channel within messenger.

This method has opened the door for brands and businesses to communicate with their customers in a variety of new ways and it is a win-win situation for both brands and customers.

Commenting on the same, David Marcus, head of the messenger said:

2017 was a challenging year for all kinds of reasons. I’m happy that despite all the things that sometimes divide us, we still mainly want to connect and genuinely spend quality time with one another. Ultimately, we want to make Messenger the easiest and most delightful way for people to spend time together in happy and harder times. That’s the impact the Messenger team wants to make at scale, and I’m optimistic we will deliver in 2018. Thank you for being part of our community. We look forward to making our product better for you this year.
