Twitter Lite for Android expands to 24 more countries

Twitter Lite for Android

Launched back in April, Twitter Lite brings features like new web experience, minimized data usage, faster loading speed on slower connections or unreliable mobile networks. The company back in September has made the app available on Google Play Store in the Philippines. Starting today, the app is now available on Google Play Store in 24 more countries.

Upon testing the user behavior and response to the Play Store listing which made it more discoverable, the company has finally decided to launch it officially in countries like  Africa, Asia, Europe, Middle East, and Latin America, specifically: Algeria, Bangladesh, Bolivia, Brazil, Chile, Colombia, Costa Rica, Ecuador, Egypt, Israel, Kazakhstan, Mexico, Malaysia, Nigeria, Nepal, Panama, Peru, Serbia, El Salvador, South Africa, Thailand, Tunisia, Tanzania, and Venezuela.

Twitter says that Tweets sent from Twitter Lite have increased more than 50% and the company recently added features like GIF search, ranked Home timeline, and more. Twitter says that the Lite app loads quickly even on 2G and 3G networks, and will also offer offline support in case you temporarily lose your connection. The Twitter Lite app size is just 3MB and also offers a data saver mode to download only the images or videos you want to see.

You can get the Twitter Lite from the Google Play Store in these 24 countries. It is still not available in India, but you can grab the APK here and side-load it manually.
