Microsoft has announced Windows 10 Insider preview with build number 17035 which brings Apple’s AirDrop type quick share of files between PCs. Microsoft has started testing this new wireless transfer feature in this latest build and is also bringing many Edge browser improvements.

Microsoft is adding few Edge browser improvements like the Mute this tab for muting a tab which is playing audio. The tab will display an audio icon when a song or video is playing indicating that it is clickable in case you wish to mute it. The tab will unmute if clicked again and this feature is also available from the context menu via the right-click action on the tab.

The new browser improvements also bring in an option to save EPUB free books that you are reading on the Edge browser. Microsoft has now added new contextual options when you right-click books in the Book pane which will display options to View in  Microsoft Store, Pin to Start, and Refresh books and remove from device.

The biggest addition to Windows 10 Insider in this latest build is the new ‘Near Share’ feature. This feature can wirelessly transfer photos, files, documents to PCs nearby via Bluetooth. ‘Near Share’, the option will be available in the Notification center and the recipient will receive a notification when someone is trying to send a file. “Near Share’ feature must be turned on both the PCs and both need to be on RS4 Build 17035+.

Other improvements include limiting the download bandwidth that is used in foreground downloads, additional Ease of Access settings to further round out the revamping of settings which flighted for the first time with Build 17025. This build number adds touch keyboard with an acrylic background and now supports the standard keyboard layout for all languages except Korean, Japanese, Traditional Chinese and Simplified Chinese. You can switch between the layouts with the tap of one button on the left corner.

Microsoft has added some new animations and changed the button layout of the handwriting panel and it can now recognize your corrections more accurately than ever before. The new hardware keyboard can now display three text suggestions near caret while typing. This is an opt-in feature which needs to be enabled in Settings > Time & languages > Region & languages, and then enable “Show text suggestions as I type on hardware keyboard” setting under Settings > Devices > Typing.

As this is an insider build, there are few known issues like the noticeable screen flicker when using hotkeys or the touchpad and few checkboxes missing from certain Win32 apps. Microsoft, however, said that it will fix them.
