This week Xiaomi launched the Mi MIX 2 smartphone in India, BlackBerry introduced Motion, a mid-range Android smartphone, Samsung launched the Galaxy Tab A (2017), Huawei’s Honor brand introduced the Honor 7X and Honor 6C Pro, and lots more in our weekly roundup.

Mi Mix 2 -6

Xiaomi this week launched the  Mi MIX 2 with a 5.99-inch 18:9 Full HD+ display with ultra narrow bezels, Octa-Core Snapdragon 835 Mobile platform with 6GB of RAM, ceramic body and a 3400mAh battery with support for fast charging.

It comes in Black color, is priced at Rs. 35,999 and will be available exclusively from Flipkart and mi.com starting October 17th.

Xiaomi Mi ANC USB Type-C In-Ear Earphones_fonearena-4

Xiaomi also introduced Mi Noise Cancelling Earphones USB Type-C version in India. It is Hi-Res audio certified and draws power from the phone itself through USB Type-C port. It has a metallic body, frequency response of 20 – 40,000Hz, 113dB sensitivity, iron acoustic architecture and has Active Noise Cancelling (ANC) to cut out external noise.

It is priced at Rs. 2,999 in India and is expected to go on sale later this month on mi.com. Check out the unboxing here.

Samsung Galaxy Tab A 8.0 2017_fonearena-004

Samsung this week launched the Galaxy Tab A 8.0 (2017), the company’s latest mid-range tablet in India. It has a 8-inch WXGA display, is powered by a Quad-Core Snapdragon 425 processor, runs on Android 7.1 (Nougat) and also comes with 4G VoLTE support. It has Samsung’s signature home button and menu buttons below the display, metal body and packs a 5000 mAh battery with up to 14 hours of video viewing.

It comes in Black and Gold colors, is priced at Rs. 17,990 and is available across the country. Check out the unboxing here.

Honor 7X

Huawei’s Honor brand introduced Honor 7X with a 5.93-inch Full HD+ 18:9 2.5D curved glass display with minimal bezels, Octa-Core Kirin 659 processor, 16-megapixel rear camera with a 2-megapixel secondary camera along with an 8-megapixel front camera.  It has a unibody metal design, features a fingerprint sensor on the back and comes with a 3340mAh built-in battery.

The Honor 7X comes in Gold, Aurora Blue and Black colors and starts at 1299 yuan (US$ 198 / Rs. 12,885 approx.).

Honor WaterPlay

It also introduced Honor WaterPlay, its first water-resistant tablet with IP67 ratings. It has a 10.1-inch QXGA screen, is powered by Kirin 659 SoC and runs on Android 7.0 (Nougat) with EMUI 5.1. It has stereo speakers with Huawei Histen 3D audio technology and harman / kardon audio tech and a fingerprint sensor embedded into the home button.

It comes in Silver and Champgne Gold colors and starts at 1999 yuan (US$ 303 / Rs. 19,770 approx.) for the Wi-Fi version.

Honor 6C Pro

The company unveiled Honor 6C Pro in Europe, which is the re-branded Honor V9 Play that was introduced in China last month. It packs a 5.2-inch HD 2.5D curved glass display, is powered by an Octa-Core MediaTek MT6750 SoC, instead of Snapdragon 435 in the 6C and runs on Android 7.0 (Nougat) with EMUI 5.1 on top.

It comes in Black, Gold and Blue colors and is priced at 179 Euros (US$ 211 / Rs. 13740 approx.).

BlackBerry Motion-

BlackBerry Mobile announced the TCL-made BlackBerry Motion this week with a 5.5-inch 1080p display, Octa-Core Snapdragon 625 Mobile platform, 4GB RAM, Android 7.1 (Nougat),  water-resistant body with IP67 ratings, 12-megapixel rear camera with dual-tone LED flash and an 8-megapixel front-facing camera.

It comes in Black color, is priced at Dh 1,699 (US$ 462 / Rs. 30,210 approx.) in UAE and 1,699 Riyal (US$ 453 / Rs. 29590 approx.) in Saudi Arabia.

ASUS ZenFone 4 Selfie Lite

ASUS this week announced Zenfone 4 Selfie Lite (ZB553KL),a selfie-focused smartphone 5.5-inch HD screen, Snapdragon 425, 2GB RAM, Android 7.0 (Nougat) with Zen UI 4.0, 13-megapixel front and rear cameras with LED flash and a 3000mAh battery.

It comes in Deepsea Black, Mint Green, Rose Pink and Sunlight Gold colors and starts at 7,995 PHP (US$ 156 / Rs. 10198 approx.) in Philippines.

Nubia Z17S

ZTE’s nubia this week announced Nubia Z17S with a 5.73-inch FHD+ full-screen display, Octa-Core Snapdragon 835 Mobile Platform, Android 7.1 (Nougat) with Nubia UI 5.1, 12-megapixel rear camera with f/1.8 aperture,0.03 second dual pixel focus, 1.4μm pixel size along with a secondary 23-megapixel secondary camera for 2x optical zoom and background blur.

It comes in Black and Blue colors, is priced at 2999 yuan (US$ 455 / Rs. 29,610 approx.) for the 6GB RAM with 64GB storage version and the 8GB RAM with 128GB storage version costs 3999 yuan (US$ 607 / Rs. 39,510 approx.).

Nubia Z17 miniS

The company also announced Nubia Z17 miniS with a 5.2-inch 1080p screen, Snapdragon 653 SoC with 6GB RAM and 13-megapixel dual rear cameras with monochrome + RGB sensors on the back along with a 16-megapixel front camera along with a 5-megapixel secondary front camera and Android 7.1 (Nougat) with nubia UI 5.0 .

It comes in Black Gold and Deep Blue colors and is priced at 1999 yuan (US$ 303 / Rs. 19,735 approx.).

Xolo Era 3X

Xolo launched Era 3XEra 3 and Era 2V budget selfie smartphones. All these phones have a 5-inch HD screen, are powered by Quad-core MediaTek MT6737 SoC and run Android 7.0 (Noguat). All these have moonlight flash on the front for capturing better selfies in low lighting conditions.

These have dedicated Dual SIM slots and 4G VoLTE support. The Era 3X and Era 2V pack a 3000mAh battery and have a fingerprint sensor, while the Era 3 come with a 2500mAh battery and lack a fingerprint sensor. The Era 3, Era 2V and Era 3X are priced at Rs. 4,999, Rs. 6,499 and  Rs. 7,499, respectively and are available from Flipkart.

Lava Helium 12

Lava this week launched Helium 12, its second Windows 10 laptop in the Helium series, few months after launching the Helium 14. It has a 12.5-inch HD display, is powered by a quad-core Intel x5-Z8350 processor, has 2GB of RAM and 32GB of storage, which is expandable with microSD.

It comes in Silver and Gold colors, is priced at Rs. 12,999 and is available from  retail stores and multi-brand outlets across 14 Indian cities.

Acer Nitro 5 Spin

Acer launched Nitro 5 Spin, a 2-in-1 convertible notebook that serves the purpose for casual gamers. it  sports a 15.6-inch Full HD touchscreen IPS display, is equipped with 8th Generation Intel Core i5 or i7 processor, NVIDIA GeForce GTX 1050 graphics, 8GB DDR4 RAM and 1TB HDD .

With its 2-in-1 feature, you can switch its form factor between four modes: Laptop, Tent, Display (Theater), and Tablet. It also has a fingerprint scanner built into the trackpad. t comes in Black color, starts at Rs. 79,990 and is available exclusively from Flipkart.
